I think the game tonight was dissapointing for a number of reasons. The first is that I truly thought we had a good chance at beating this team. I watched their game against Providence and they have a lot of flaws that we could have taken advantage of. In terms of how this hurts our overall package, I just think this game would have been a good one if we end up having the record to be a bubble team. It makes sense that we have lost our 6 games to probable tourney teams or at least 4 probable tourney teams, but at the same time what does that say about us? A game like tonight is gonna hurt because it is one that got a lot of attention because of bc's record. The poor first half would not have been so bad if I didnt see the fact that we went scoreless for 15 minutes which is unthinkable on ESPN about 500 times. Its just a shame and hopefully a game this team will remember and go out with a passion these next couple of games. I just cant help but think when it comes down to being on the bubble which is where I think we will be come tourney time, we need to have a real upset in our schedule and I dont see that in the games we have remaining aside from UCONN. What is worse is that, I think a lot of the poor teams that we will play, ala providence, could end up pulling out an upset against us, so now it makes it even more important that we hold serve against the teams we should beat. Overall, I am so happy with where this team is this year, I didnt even expect them to be this good, tonight is just a big let down when this is a game I thought we would really be ready for and look good in. We will see what happens from here on out. Remember that the win over Pitt could end up being a big quality win if they continue to play well, and the win over Nova could be as well as they are really playing well and should probably be in the top 25 soon. Also, we beat both these teams on their home floors. However, we just have to take care of our business and win games, especially against the teams we are now supposed to beat. Let's focus on Wednesday and get a win against the pirates.

All excellent points on this thread. I like GP's analysis that progress is never linear. My son (the one who doesn't like bball) has said that basketball is a game of luck. Well, yes, and no. I think the luck factor has to do with these nonlinear progressions, as it gets into the realm of statistics (with its ups and downs that finally "average out").
One of the posters in another thread cautioned that Jeff would probably be feeling his minutes this season and come out tired soon. I guess last night was the night. If he had an illness on top of that, that would explain his weak play. He has helped carry us so far, so we owe him at least one.
It seems as if BC scouted us very well and were able to do things to disrupt our offense. It is good to see that we can make changes at halftime, but it would be nice if we didn't let these good teams get so far ahead of us.
As I mentioned in another thread, Seth Davis gave us an A+ on his expectations scorecard, even taking the BC game into account.
GO HOYAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROB THE PIRATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Between our loss and Pitt win last night, where is our RPI now? Somebody always posts about a site that updates it every day, but I can never remember what the site is. Hard game to watch last night. Man was it ugly. But there things are going to happen to a young team. We've got great opportunities to win over these next 5 games. Let's do our best and see where we come out going into the Nova game. 31, according to Pomeroy. Losing against BC, which has a Top 10 RPI, actually helps.

with that RPI, we just need to win the games that we are supposed to win...these next four are crucial...the next three are must-wins in my opinion if we are to be a tournament team, and the notre dame game is also very important because it is becoming more apparent that villanova is for real and notre dame and georgetown will be battling for the sixth and final tourney berth from the Big East...if we can win that game at South Bend, i think we are in fantastic shape...

Lunardi has us at 32 with a SOS of 19. His LunaRPI has us at # 9. Anyone know what that is?
Ok, I'll answer my own questions. The LunaRPI is a team's RPI for road/neutral games.

With those kinds of impressive numbers I just think we need to win the games we're now supposed to win (SHU, Rutgers, WVU, SJU, Providence) and we'll be in great shape. Obviously those will still be very tough games, but if we can get the W in those we should be fine. Of course I would like to see us win 6 of the last 8, but I think 5-3 would also be extremely succesful.

exactly 007 - think this team is eminently capable of winning those games - the RAC game scares me the most, but if we go 5-3 in our last 8, i think we are tourney bound for sure...

I think we need male cheerleaders with those big plastic megaphones who would actually be capable of leading cheers.

How about the Atlethic Department takes the initiative and goes out and gets people to be male cheerleaders. This is so typical, its like why don't alumni volunteer to get season ticket info?!!! The Athletic Department has to start reaching out and stop expecting everything to fall into their laps without any effort!

I didnt want to get into this on going battle but I am starting to agree here. I have stuck up for LIC in the past, but cmon man, put a little bit of effort into your posts. You maybe be old, but I dont even read your posts anymore because its like they are written in code. Spend two extra minutes putting in punctuation. Everyone likes you as a contributor, they just get annoyed when you bang out 5 posts in a minute that are impossibe to read. Also, 3 cheers for those on the board who cut down on their huge pictures in posts, I and I think others on the board appreciate it.
