...since I am going to the game, I thought I'd peg this out there early. While I will be wearing GU clothing to annoy my section mates, I will not have a painted face nor blue hair (graying is the best I can do - apologies to 2007). Go Hoyas!

let's get a win hoyas...i am confident we can slow down dudley, my biggest concern in craig smith because he killed us last year - Jeff is going to have to play sensational defense to keep him in check...
all you hoyas fans going to the game...make your presence known...

Nevada, I will not be making the trip, but I'll be cheering on in spirit with hordes of Hoya fans at the Village C Alumni Lounge tonight.
I usually don't dare say it, but I have a good feeling about this one... GO HOYAS!!!

BC 64 GU 49 That's very disappointing to dig such a deep first half hole. The real test will be bouncing back for our next game and getting out to a great start. I couldn't believe it when I got the ESPN radio update that the score was 16-4 and then 24-12. I really thought we would pull this one out, only down 12 after such a horrific start.

Consider reality checked.
Inexperience showed where inexperience typically shows: slow start--err, make that a slow first 18 minutes--against a highly touted rival on the road with a loud student section; inability to capitalize on turnovers, foul trouble, espeically late; forced shots and cheap fouls (especially w/ Green). Just did not do what needed to be done against a outstanding but eminently beatable (especially tonight) BC team.
But we saw glimpses of greatness from the bench--def in Tyler if not Amadou. There are still a lot of reasons to think this is a NCAA-worthy team. Seton Hall at home will be a great opportunity to regain some confidence.

WOW...yeah that's all i've got to say about that game. I was so confused about a lot of things, and they were things that reminded me of Esherick like b-ball. Don't get me wrong, JTIII knows his stuff, but I wonder if he was all there tonight. For instance, he played Ray Reed (whom i consider to be one of the worst players on the team, too many turnovers, not enough playmaking) the entire night. On top of that, he hardly played Wallace at all (I would guess it to be around 10 min?) Crawford (who played well) played most of the game....just real weird stuff. It reminds me of how Esh used to play Rhese Gibson a lot (after Rhese had gotten the PT equivilant of Sead during the JT the elder years). Any thoughts on why JTIII played such an odd lineup?

Rebounding overall wasn't bad, but to me it appeared we couldn't buy a rebound on the offensive end for most of the first half while we seemed to get most of the defensive ones in the ugliness that was the first half.

My thoughts:
1. Good move by Skinner starting Smith on Hibbert. Smith had 4 steals in the first half as a result, and we were always uncomfortable when the offense ran through Roy.
2. It's tough to run our offense when the refs allow a lot of hand-checking. Nate Doornekamp in particular was given WAY too much leeway.
3. Their crowd was pathetic.
4. Craig Smith made some ridiculous shots tonight. I don't watch him enough to know whether that's typical.
5. Hey Barros -- nice suit.

The odd substitutions were what made it a game. Wallace, Hibbert and Owens had plenty of chances to get aggressive on the offensive end during that 15 minute drought. They were all tentative in the face of BC defensive pressure.
We only began to run our offense assertively with those guys on the bench.

Missed the whole game. (had to read at Mass). I was hoping that I would read about a Hoya victory. I guess BC is for real, so I will have to give props to my cousin. This is a bit hard to take, especially with our high hopes. Was JG on Smith (5 fouls)? He had a tough game. The main (only) bright spot was Tyler. Good to have another gun. It will be interesting to hear from those, who were there in person. Go Hoyas bounce back against the Pirates.

Yeah, locker is right. The substitutions were necessary. Jwallace was basically a non-factor tonight and so was DJ. Hibbert is still going through some growing pains. Overall, not a death blow to our season, but still dissapointing and deflating.
I thought our second half offense looked great, tons of nice backcuts and such. Crawford really showed some mettle and BB turned it on. Too bad it was a half too late. A tough loss, but not the end of the world
Go HOYAS

Since not much was clicking, Crawford got some run. That was good to see. Though, according to Rich, he missed some bunnies, overall he had a good game. Positive minutes from Crawford improves our depth and bodes well for next year.
What did his defense look like, for those who saw the game?

Biggest non-factor: Jeff Green. He looked LOST on offense the first half. One good drive. Some horrible fouls, a five-second call, two travels... looked like a high-school sophmore out there. I love the kid, but he just looked beat.
Not impressed with BC at all. They are this year's St. Joe's. One good guard (Jameer Nelson - Dudley) and one good forward (Delonte West - Craig Smith). Lots of turnovers, two guys doing all the scoring... I can't see them doing much come March when you need guys stepping up. Their undefeated record is as meaningful as St. Joes' last year.
