That's a bummer. Didn't see this one coming.

This was kinda obvious. He wants to play and play early. Although he could come and compete here, he has to weigh the opportunity to come and compete for a starting spot with the idea that he knows one is waiting for him in Memphis. He believes he is a one and done guy, whether that is true or not...

Memphis has like 3 other top 25 wing/guards coming in in that class. He'd have just as much playing time at georgetown.

Watching Memphis is going to be interesting. They're going to have a lot of guys looking to showcase themselves at the same positions. It'll be interesting one way or the other.

We resume our series with Memphis next year, correct - in Memphis? Looks like they will be stacked.

Good luck to the kid. Am I the only one who is completely shocked at how well Memphis is recruiting? If I didn't think that the shadiness left town with you know who, I'd be wondering what the heck is going on there. At the least, I'm glad that the school/team is not being completely killed due to the former coaches' actions.

Memphis was shady long before Cal got there, It's still shady now that he's left. Fedex is their main booster and has committed recruiting violations of inappropriate contact before. (President of Fedex called up an employee who's the mother of a recruit and started talking up her son committing to Memphis) Pastner was one of cal's cronies, wouldn't surprise me that he's dirty. Plus it's still memphis where you get to live in a mansion and don't have to go to school.

Talk about an amazing class of recruits. Memphis just got another commitment from Tarik Black.
Memphis now has Barton, Kendrick, Jackson (all consensus top 15 recruits), crawford, black, tsafack and barton's brother.
I guess they didn't need Cal.

yes, amazing class. I wish all of these young men success, both personally and professionally. Pastner has been accepted by the community and if he only recruit the Memphis area and West Tennessee he will have a top program year in and out.....Hope that my Hoyas will get a few out-of-there.

Memphis is not that bad a deal. You get to live in amazing facilities, get treated like rockstars when around the city, dominate the league you play in, plus you get to play for the guy who was number 2 to the guy that has sent more one and done players to the league than any in recent history. Also very compelling is that this number 2 guy has assured players and fans that he believes in the system in place before and will not change a thing so I dont see why their recruiting would tail off.
You cant blame a player for being susceptible to that sales pitch. If you do, you are just plain ridiculous. Im sure Jelan thinks his playing time at Memphis is there right off the bat. Whether or not fans know this, many schools do promise playing time, whether or not that player will get it or not.

Pastner was #2 to Cal for a whole year. But he was under Lute before.
I don't blame anyone for going to Memphis, except for the fact that most of your games are against vastly inferior competition. How is that challenging yourself?
I also think there are plenty of benefits going around illegally, though probably not every player avails themselves. The mansion is just the start.

He very well may have a different side, but he was one of the most humble and polite kids I had ever spoken to.
If he did end up leaving Memphis, I would assume the staff would at least be in contact if they sent out feelers to kids like Drew Gordon and even place a call to see what was up with Tony Woods.

Interesting. Second half enrollment possible at GU, assuming there isn't any dirt? My recollection was that he attended MM and was friendly with Markel.
