Two snippets from rivals article on top 65 teams....
"Tyler Hansbrough isn't just the best big man in college basketball. Hansbrough is one of the best big men ever to play the college game."
"...It's tough to imagine Hansbrough getting any better."
Skwara's home should be raided so as to get him into a proper rehab program.

I hope Tyler gets drafted, strolls into the league, and Roy works him over like a child.

Or Summers dunks on his head like he did in OT (twice?) a couple years ago.

He does know that amassing stats in an up and down system over four years is different than being the best, right?

I bet McHale drafts him if he's still available when the TWolves draft this year

Is Tyler even the best to play at Carolina?
Sam Perkins, Brad Daugherty...just two off the top of my head...
Definitely not the best to play in the state...

James Worthy is the best frontcourt player to ever play at UNC.
Tyler Hansbrough couldn't wash his socks.
I know he's not a center, but the article said "big man," not "center."

True, but Worthy was really more of a SF. Those guys are not usually included with Big Men. How about Bob McAdoo? Whether or not he's the best at UNC, suggesting he is "one of the best ever to play colllege hoops?" That phrase "one of" has to cover a helluva a lot of territory... Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Kareem, Patrick, Ralph Sampson, Zo, Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon.....etc. No, I can't see putting Tyler in that company. But I do think Tyler is a helluva player and this board seems to give him short shrift.

It's a good point, Saxa. I think objectively, everyone here would agree that Hansbrough is a great player.
I think we're all guilty of a little over-the-top backlash in response to the WAY over-the-top kudos that he gets.
(but I still think he couldn't stand on the same court as Worthy; you're right though, he's more of a 3 than a 4, even back in 1982).

SirSaxa,
I think the board is hard on Tyler because of the company that some try to put Tyler in. I'd be very happy to have Tyler down low scrappin' in a Hoya or Aggie uniform. He makes any team instantly tougher/better.
But saying that Tyler is one of the best big men of all time is absolutely absurd. As much as I hate Laettner, I don't think Tyler is better than he was.

Yeah SirSaxa, you're right, the board definitely gives him short shrift. He's a great player and very difficult to guard. But I guess people have to hate on him some just to balance the unjustifiable amount of love he seems to get elsewhere. Not that he's going to be as irrelevant a pro, but he reminds me of Adam Morrison. Both of those guys have a unique ability to make contested shots. The problem is, they have difficulty in getting non-contested shots. When guys are bigger faster and stronger like they are at the next level, that's going to be a problem.

He's a girly man.
What it should say is "one of the best medium sized guys in college history who has no shot at the next level."
If TyTy is a big man, Patrick was three big men.

Apparently, defense doesn't count in evaluating the best big men.

I think Tyler's intensity goes high first round and Tyler the player goes early second.

OK, everyone. I appreciate those sentiments. Tyler, UNC, Duke .. they all get too much praise as far as we are concerned. I agree with that. But I think it only fair to acknowledge talented kids on other teams who play with a lot of heart.... even if they have no business being ranked among the greatest of all time.... those rankings being done by someone else, not by the kids themselves.

I think Tyler's intensity goes high first round and Tyler the player goes early second. You need to consider that his "will to win" is also a lottery pick on its own.
