I hope Tyler gets even bigger press this year and gets drafted by...the Clippers. They need a big man now right?

Another part of the general anti-Hansbrough sentiment is just the way he plays the game, which is borderline dirty. He jumps into opponents' chests all day on one end (getting almost every call), and then flops like Greg Paulus on the other (getting almost every call).
You realize, of course, that he has not fouled out of a single game in since he was a freshman. That is simply preposterous for such a physical, semiskilled player.

this is laughable. the guy puts up monster numbers every year and busts his ass on the court for 40 minutes. fact is, if he played for us, you'd love him.

I like Tyler as a player and would love him on my team, but is he any better as an individual college player than say, Mr. Sweetney. Before you respond, just consider the "supporting cast, tempo and coaching" differences between the two. I loved Sweetney's game and hope we'll see another skilled wide body coming down the pike at some point, but i don't think at any point that I would have considered making the statement that he should be in the conversation when it comes to best big man of all time.

Bill Walton spit out his organic, fair-trade coffee reading that article.

Of course we'd like the guy if he was a Hoya--BUT--you can't bring that up without realizing if he was a Hoya--he'd be seen for what he actually is and not treated as one of the great players of all time. I mean he was dominated on the court by Cole Aldrich---that doesn't happen to one of the greatest players ever. Aldrich was a bench player at Kansas and dominated the game. Why? Because he's a legit 6'11, physical, and they knocked the Edited out of a guy who is a "tough guy" in the pansy ACC.

If anyone thinks he's the best college player...just watch the first half of the Kansas game.
Or the 2nd half of our game against them in 07.

What about Jeff Green versus tOSU, or Hibbert versus Davidson? The kid is probably the best college player out there right now. Not the most talented, the most NBA-ready, the guy with the highest ceiling, but the best college player. His teams win and he puts up great numbers. And, yes, he craps the bed in a couple of games.

Tyler is one of the most effective offensive players in college basketball. He might be the most effective, depending on your point of view on efficiency versus number of shots versus level of competition.
He's nowhere near the most effective defensive player, which should be incorporated, shouldn't it?
The idea that he's somehow as good as say, Kareem was, is silly.

Point is..
When he matches up against LEGIT big men....not the 6'7 kids in the ACC....where he gets all the calls..
What happens?
The calls stopped for him in the 2nd half against us and he did nothing. Kansas man handled him on both ends.
G'Town and Kansas had NBA talent front courts...that you don't find in the ACC.
Defensively? Doesn't even need to be discussed.

If we use the point of view of Ken Pomeroy, then Tyler wasn't the most effective players, last season. he was not in the top fifty of any offensive catagory except "offensive rating" where he was 22 and FT rate where he was 44. basketballprospectus.com/sr.php?team=North%20CarolinaHere is Georgetowns page for comparison (roy is not better btw): basketballprospectus.com/sr.php?team=Georgetown

Well, except Tyler had the 4th highest Offensive Rating of anyone using at least 24% of their team's possessions -- ultra efficient players are nice, but ultra-efficient players who do that while shooting a lot are really nice. basketballprospectus.com/leaders.php?c=ORtgKevin Love was decidedly better, but he's a pro now. Carroll and Hill both left/graduated as well, I think, but they also played lesser competition than Hansbrough or Love. Beasley, Ryan Anderson and Curry all had much higher usages and only slightly lower efficiencies. Competition plays a role with Curry, but then again, as a guard, it's easier to get him the ball in crunch time. I think it is safe to say Tyler was up there, and is right up there as best returning. But he wasn't even clearly the best last year.

Love the Harangody reference. Couldn't be more appropriate. College age v. college age.... would loved to see Zo just tool Tyler. In my mind it feels like a fantastic fantasy matchup.
