Was reading the NY Post and Daily News today talking about the Marbury drama and no mention of PE Jr. I took it as not exactly positive but I hope I'm entirely wrong. I, for one, will completely miss seeing him coming off of the bench this year and wish him every success. The Knicks could certainly use his unique talents and I hope someone with some juice sees that.

He'd better make the team... GU needs to start re-building our NBA alumni! Not too many these days.

I hope you're right SirSaxa... give me a new reason to start watching the Knicks again. Otherwise it's more like why do you watch the Knicks? Cuz it feels so good when you stop watching the Knicks.

This is all i can think of: 1) Jeff Green 2) Roy Hibbert 3) Allen Iverson 4) Dikembe Mutombo 5) Alonzo Mourning 6) Pat Ewing, Jr. (probably...hopefully...please? ) Are there any others? Please tell me there's others!

Jeff needs to have a break out season to get some of the star power back to the alumni base

Ewing played a grand total of zero minutes tonight against the Raptors. And Chandler played pretty well. Not a good sign. Hopefully he'll get some PT next game.

As usual Georgetown players representing the school well - this was posted on one of the Knick blogs:
"*Ewing was the first guy shooting and the last guy off the court…one great finish in transition…looked a little confused in the offense…but they have to keep him."

It was from a fan comment in this blog: weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basket....d_actually.html The fans seem generally positive about Pat. "Lastly, the little Ewing. I guess he replaces Balkman in the sense he doesn't shoot too often but keeps a lock down on opposing players with his ability to defend and move quickly. I say we keep him around. " "I just hope that they give Ewing Jr. a shot... " and from the guy writing the blog: "Patrick Ewing, Jr. hasn't stood out and seems to get overwhelmed under the basket against the veteran bodies, but I have watched him closely enough to see him defend very well against Wilson Chandler in some matchups. Ewing, Jr. is a player the Knicks want to keep, so he can be allowed some time to develop and progress."

Guys--this isnt' college. When you are a rookie and not a high 1st Round Pick--it's up to you to make an impact just to prove you are worth keeping. Pat will likely be one of the guys who doesn't dress a lot for most of this season--and even gets a lot of D-League time--think I read where Knicks are getting a team to place players--but as long as he's working hard/giving his best--he'll have a shot somewhere.
Pro ball--you are playing to stay in league/impress everyone--so if you are let go--someone else wants to pick you up--see Bruce Bowen's journey. It might not ever happen or it might take great persistence--but you just focus on what you can control--which PE JR does a great job of--effort and knowing what he does well and what needs work.

I really hope Pat makes the team and can stick in the NBA. I think some team is going to find he brings exactly what they need, ala Bruce Bowen. Also, is that really all we have in the NBA or does anyone know of any others? I really would like to know. I just can't think of any.

Knicks have a great deal of roster/salary cap issues that will begin to resolve themselves at the end of this year. PEJ has a great chance to survive as long as he continues to work hard through the next year (and beyond).

it shouldn't be surprising that we have so few nba players right now. only one player from the late thompson/esherick really stood out after iverson and that was mike sweetney. he obviously had his own problems, but i'm sure there will be more hoyas joining nba rosters in the next four years. hopefully not too soon though.

I've got my Wizards - Knicks tickets already lined up so I can show support. (Roy will be in town on Dec. 15th - got those tickets too) I'll be happy if he's even just sitting on the bench for the game. Well, I'll be happy if he makes the team, even D-league for now and then can move on up next year.

Haven't seen a word about PE Jr. in the NY papers in quite some time. Not even a mention in an article the other day in the Daily News (maybe Post) talking about how the energy level of the team is not where mngmt would like it to be. If PE Jr. doesn't get a look in that regard.....

Have to love this quote from Jr. in the NYT article: “Growing up, I always wanted to be like my father,” Ewing Jr. said. “I always wanted to go to Georgetown and I always wanted to play for the Knicks. They’ve both worked out for me, so far.”
