You got blueandgray to thank for that one.
Mine: AI's performance vs. UConn when he dunked on Kirk King. Hoyas needed the win.

Jeff Green vs. Ohio State has to be one of the worst single games I've seen in recent memory.

It was Rudy Johnson...and it was the most exciting play I have ever seen in person.

Worst: Roy against Nova...there are several games to pick from...
Let's just say that Wright had his number.

Worst: Sadly, turned in by one of my favorite Hoyas, Victor Page, in the 1996 Regional Final v. UMASS. Zero points and considerable negative impact on the game.

Best: the team in '84 Final (easy) To tell you the truth, the team in the '84 SemiFinal was a better performance. Much better.

thanks Id...that bus left tread marks.
worst player performances:
1. vp vs. umas 2. jeff dissappearing vs. ohio st.
worst team performance: 1. Final 3 minutes of 1996 BE Final versus UCON...still hurts. 2. Davidson 3. Elite 8 game versus donovan and the Friars.
best performance has been discussed at nauseum... but vp's performance in the semis of the 1996 BE tourney was right up there with Jeff's vs ND..
best team performance ever..... UNC in 2007.

I had forgotten that Vic did zippo vs. UMass. JG's game versus Ohio St. still perplexes me. Its like he was expecting another game after that.

Worst: Roy against Nova...there are several games to pick from... Let's just say that Wright had his number. But only one game was truly big...The Big East Quarterfinals. The worst would be for me Victor Page against UMass in the Final Eight 1996 game. Hard to pick the best.

worst team performance: 1. Final 3 minutes of 1996 BE Final versus UCON...still hurts. 2. Davidson 3. Elite 8 game versus donovan and the Friars. I just can't buy into the notion of Davidson game being one of the worst performances. Yeah, the Hoyas lost and blew a lead. But the team shot 64% in essentially a road game in front of a very pro-Davidson crowd. The Hoyas also saw Davidson go to the free throw line about three times more often and had its leading scorer/leading rebounder limited to just 16 minutes before fouling out. The Hoyas blew a big first half lead but they did so to a team that was given an insultingly low seed after coming into the tourney with a 20 plus game win streak. That team featured a player who put up one of the greatest string of NCAA tourney performances in the history of the event. That same team also beat a very good Gonzaga team, destroyed a very good Wisconsin team and almost beat eventual champion Kansas in the regional final. Losing to Davidson may have been a huge disappointment to Hoya fans and obviously the pain of it is still fresh. But years from now with some distance I doubt as many folks will see that as one of the team's worst performances. It wasn't exactly as horrible as the Hoyas' showing against UMass in 1996 or against Providence in the 1987 regionals. To me the most embarrassing thing about that loss was still how some folks responsible for this website handled the situation immediately after the outcome. Oh, and the rantings of certain fans were all class too. Disappointing performance? Okay. Worst ? Not to me; not when the team actually looked so good during stretches of the game. Some of JT Jr's teams by comparison looked absolutely clueless in their worst showings. With that being said my picks for worst team performance is the Hoyas abysmal showing at UNLV in early 1993 (Othella's first season) that was shown nationwide on CBS and the all-time low of Gtown vs Temple in an early season contest at MSG during Kevin Braswell's first season (first season debut of A. Perry too). The latter game was played during the NBA lockout and at the time a lot of the NBA players were in NYC. Many of them, including former Hoya legends, were in the stands that night to watch. I imagine the former Hoya greats must have felt both sad and embarrassed by what they witnessed. Of course neither contest could be truly classified as a big game either so...

Alonzo in the '89 Regional Final... What? Mourning had 14 to 16 points and a good number of blocks and was primarily resposible for guarding senior All American Danny Ferry. Laettner was free to go wild against the likes of Joh Turner, Jaren Jackson and even Charles Smith. It wasn't Zo's best performance but not even close to one of the worst performances for a Hoya in the history of Gtown hoops.

He just wasn’t as dominant in that game as I thought he should have been. Even the coach sat him for a few because of his ineffectiveness. He damn sure made up for it in the Big East-ACC challenge 2 years later though…
