If that is what they are calling it these days--fine by me. This has been a long time coming and handwriting has been on wall. Spot was held for Chris for 2 years-and time for both to go in different direction. Wish him best and good luck. Saying this is a "surprise" would be lying.

Fair to say Vaughn is a pretty similar player to Braswell in what each brings to the floor?

This is definitely better for both. I suspect that he would have struggled academically here.

Which leads me to another thought. I wonder how much Georgetown's rigorous academics can affect a players preference to transfer. Now Florida and Indiana are very good schools. However both run the gamut of very easy majors to more demanding courses.
What do you guys think???

JerryLH, I don't think it matters in those two cases at all. In others, it might, but not with those two transfers.

Good Luck to Chris where ever he goes. I guess it didn't work out, but he seems like a good person.

my initial thoughts while reading this thread were..."sheeesh...this kid has some nerve given how patient we've had to be with him". Then I realized that in that time...the landscape of georgetown big men had really changed since his he committed. in that time we added dash, vaughn, monroe and I believe even sims to the mix. he no longer would be "the man" here and would actually be battling just to get some minutes. I trully think this is the best move for everybody.
where does this leave us in terms of available schollies for next year??... I count at least 2.

Georgetown and Chris have split ways. Wish the best of luck to him and move on. He's a good player and from what the folks at Hoyareport say, a good kid. The scholarship table is at the bottom of this thread: Recruiting ThreadFor next year, we have Hollis, Riley and two more open, but if that would only leave us one pre-transfer, pre-NBA scholarship for '10. We're a bit unbalanced because of what is effectively back to back four man classes while a balanced average would be about three per year.

In the end, we may have just dodged an "Egerson," which is fine by me. Regardless of basketball ability, it's not worth a reputation hit for the school as a whole. When I read somewhere that he "just can't remember what he reads," a small but bright flag went up.

Really? So you're totally with those folks who still, to this day, bash Reggie Williams for his post-championship game interview in which he sounded much less articulate that Chris ever has?
He's not likely to be a Hoya. That's all. We have other options and hopefully he does as well.

i was merely making fun of the previous two posts in which someone said he couldn't remember what he read, and then u inquired as to whether there was a need to bash the kid. I joked that i didn't remember what I read (as per making fun of the guy who was making fun of Chris for not being able to remember what he read).
I do hope he does well, and I am not criticizing Chris, I was just poking fun at our beloved posters.

Could improve our chances with landing harriston. By the time he'd be on campus in '10 vaughn will be a senior, Monroe will likely be gone Riley will be a sophomore and Sims will be a junior. So we'd have a rotation of 4 big men across two positions.

At least we don't have to speculate re: Braswell for another year... Good luck to him.
