Just wanna say again, thanks to everyone who put this together. Working at Tombs the past couple afternoons, we've had at least a couple TVs tuned to ESPNU, and I was able to watch a couple of the Georgetown-St. John's battles from '85, as well as some of the classics from this past year - vs. Syracuse, where the crowd looked just incredible, at WVU, where Ewing's block and the ensuing running off the court/State Trooper presence on the court will not soon be forgotten, and vs. UConn, where... well, we all know how that one ends. Also caught ESPN features on AI and Zo (Zo's had a lot of stuff on Gtown, including a nice shot of Healy), and the Top 5 Reasons You Can't Blame... Fred Brown for passing to Worthy, and Gtown for losing to Nova in '85.
I guess ESPNU doesn't have much to broadcast over the summer, so I think it's a good idea to fill up some time, and I imagine they'll be doing it for other schools, too? It'll be better for schools that have good football programs too, because, while it was nice to see some sailing and men's and women's lacrosse, they were incredibly boring compared to the basketball replays.

I looked into it and aparently they started with UNC back in January. The rest of the schools listed seemed to be mostly football schools (for example All the B12 Texas schools were listed, although aparently there is a future Cuse broadcast planned). And although I wasn't on the planning commitee from the internal Hoya Blue conversations I was in on it seems like this may have been a last second decision by ESPNU to include us and suddenly approached us out of the blue* *washingtonhoya, HoyaSinceBirth and bridget311 would know better than I

Will the future Cuse broadcast include a loss to us?

The programming said it was going to be the game where the '01 team beats Cuse to basically "lock up" an NCAA bid--which we found out was right as this team died in an awful showing at BET--loss to Seton Hall.
If they wanted to show an Esh game--how about the upset win over Cuse in BET? The win over Providence in BET? The win over UNC in Chapel Hill in NIT? Those were his highlight wins--although the South Carolina win was decent--and they showed that.

Or the UT game before that one?

that was SoCal's coming out party at UT!
Not to relive the Esh Error any more than I have to - and I watched the GU at SC game last night on TiVo, but it really is amazing how little offensive cohesion Esh's teams had. The last second heave remained par for the course at all times.

Esh's teams were talented--and good enought to play with anyone--but they'd often fade or lose simply due to fact they weren't a "team". Seemed like a Pick Up roster--guys were not really role players--everyone was put together but without purpose--and instead of having a team that knew roles, knew what was expected--you had chaos.

I don't want to "pile on" Esh. He was a loyal Hoya for a couple decades. But being a loyal subordinate does not necessarily make one a good candidate for the Top job. At that position, he clearly failed. I just hope we -- the entire GU community -- can get over the animosity and focus on the achievements he did have. OK, he was his own worst enemy with some of his comments. I chalk that up to the enormous pressure he was under and the insecurity he felt. All that said, RDF's description of teams that were essentially rudderless? Coaching, or the lack thereof, is the reason. And yes, I believe Perry and Wilson -- and even Braswell - would have been far more successful under either of the JT's.
