It's obvious you hold some sort of grudge against the kid for whatever reason...because you can dislike a kid without being so negative about it. You're crossing the line with your comments for a kid you don't really know. This coming from the liar that said III told Macklin that Monroe had his spot I know all about Story(a lot more than I am going to post on a message board). I don't get personal about any prospects. If they can play and are solid students, I will say so. If they can't play, are bad students, and bad characters, I will say so also. I won't blow sunshine.

I have to agree about the latest Indy movie. Not worth the money or the effort of the writers to bring out this lame sequel. Nothing new, no character developoment. Don't care about the outcome that is just more of the same. Take this and any more National Treasure flicks and wait for the $1 oldie rentals.

To get the thread back on track, I don't see what the hate on Story is all about. Some of the great Hoya teams were a little rough around the edges, and maybe we need a little bit of that right now. So, though he may get dropped off in DuPont Circle, let's hope Mr. Story hops on the GUTS Bus heading west.

Nope. Don't get truth twisted with hate. I don't hate the kid. Frankly, I don't care about him at all. However, I would HATE to see him at Gtown.
Funny, how many prospects I/we talk about on this board. Now how many prospects have I ever really had anything negative to say about them(except Braswell).

this kid can't be THAT bad if all these big time programs are recruiting him.....just my 2 cents No. Programs desperate to add a warm body are recruiting him. This kid has no business wearing a Georgetown jersey, representing the university, or purchasing a Gtown t-shirt. Malik Story is a 2 star talent, a 1 star student, and a 0 star character. On his best day I will give him low character. The closest he should come to Gtown is being dropped off at Dupont Circle. I want to know which assistant coach thinks this kid is worthy of attending Georgetown Furthermore now that I am irritated, George Lucas owes me $8.50(not including popcorn) for Indiana Jones. WTF was that. Now we know why it took so long to produce that junk, they had to watch all of the installments of the Aliens movies. I was waiting for Segorni Weaver to start floating on to the screen. Trying to see how many rules you can break? 12. This is not a rumor board. Really punk? What do you call this: "Malik Story is a 2 star talent, a 1 star student, and a 0 star character. On his best day I will give him low character. The closest he should come to Gtown is being dropped off at Dupont Circle." If you said that about a current player it would be pulled in a second. I'm surprised the admins let it stay this long. You're the one with zero character.

He peeked in 10th grade. His academic status is 1 star level. He was red-flagged by USC admission, and they would not accept him. If you know anything about USC sports admissions, that is hard to accomplish. He was academically ineligible at a diploma mill HS And if people know what I know, his off the court behavior is 0 star level. Those are facts. Feel free to disagree, but come with some facts that show other wise. Aren't you the guy that blast posters that have been serving our country in Iraq, for asking for an update on Georgetown basketball You stay classy.

I bow down before you. I know nothing about this kid. However I know he has more class, intelligence and character than you. You're a low life posting this negative crap about a high school kid. Go somewhere else dickhead.

At the risk of having my head bitten off, I definitely want to weigh in on this issue.
1) KC Hoya. I say this not knowing a thing about balla, other than reading his posts. I think you're off on your assessment of what balla has to say. Way off. I've read balla's posts over the past year plus and it's very obvious that he's plugged into the recruiting scene. He's said some things on the board that have become deadly accurate and if you need proof of that see what he had to say about greg monroe during his recruitment. I definitely don't think balla has an axe to grind here. I think he's just telling it like it is. Fact is, it's very hard as a basketball player to get dismissed from Oak Hill. very hard, and it's a HUGE red flag if you get kicked out of a basketball factory like that. I know nothing about story. I haven't seen him play, no nothing about his character, but I do think balla has earned a measure of respect for his informative posts. And I do think he's really plugged in, so he's not blowing smoke.
2) That being said, if story can come in here and help, then I'm all for it. He's a shooter with size and that would be an asset to us, especially off the bench. Nothing is ever etched into stone when it comes to recruiting so we can't say anything about the classes of 09 or 10 because they aren't a definite other than Hollis and the big guy (it's late, his name slipped my mind). So with nine players, we need another. If we don't get one, it is what it is. But if we can get one, who can help then I'm all for it. Plus the staff hasn't made one huge misstep since they've taken over, so I trust them. Story isn't good off the dribble. We don't need him to be. What we would need from him is 15-20 minutes a game, solid defense and the ability to knock down shots. If he can do this and stay within the parameters of the program, then sign him up.
just wanted to weigh in on the topic. Interesting to say the least

I trust the staff to the point where I respectfully disagree with balla, but the key is respectfully. I know worlds more about college recruiting and the future of Georgetown basketball because of him among others. Given his numerous insightful contributions to this board, I think that he's earned the right to write off a kid and tell us why.

One can trust the staff and still disagree with a decision or at least scratch one's head over it. As great as III and Co are they aren't perfect. Look at Josh Thornton. He had speed, he had a decent handle, he had legitimate range and a nice looking form on his jumpshot. Look at Octavious Spann. Like Josh he was a top 100 recruit and seemed to have some ability. But both of them never got playing time. And when both left most people here didn't care because they felt the two of them hadn't demonstrated enough ability or basketball IQ. But how could that be if both were recruited by the staff that we are supposed to trust completely?
Oh, and how did the recruitment of Egerson work out by the way?
And of course there are Vernon and Jeremiah. Fans wanted them when the Hoyas went after them and were all too happy to see them leave once they transferred. Even before the transfers folks on this board tore into the play of Vernon and especially Jeremiah, at times dissing them as pretenders who were not good enough for the BE level. I disagreed with this view but I was in the minority. Point is if many of you felt III was, in retrospect, wrong about all of most of these guys who transferred out, how is it now you can sit back and suggest that we should trust the staff's decision on Story simply because, well, they are the staff?
Schollies are getting tight. And whether you care or not 2010 looms as a very big year for Gtown i terms of recruiting. If we are going to give away another schollie in the next six months it should only be IMO for 3 scenarios: 1) a big who could come in right away for 2008--hopefully a juco or a possible stud like Gilchrist either of whom likely won't be around to eat up a scholarship for a 2010 recruit 2) a guard with true ballhandling ability for the '09-'10 season since Sapp won't be around and 3) a top ten to top twenty bigtime recruit who could come in right away and help Gtown get back to the Final Four for '09-'10.
Story doesn't fit any of these categories. I don't know anything about his character or off-court behavior but what he reportedly brings as a basketball player doesn't seem needed. Is Omar going pro or something because he seems just like another version of Omar? And for those who want to say that Omar hasn't proven anything at the Big East level my counter is that neither has Story.
I'll wait and see on this one but I'm hoping Story goes elsewhere.
