My post was also, actually, a joke. The (changed) post, that is. I have no problems with the admins.. I just like to joke with them is all.
Well, I like to think that being non-existent and dead aren't the same thing. It's not that he's dead to me, it's that he doesn't exist to me. If he's dead that must mean he has died in some way to you, whereas for me, he's just not there anymore.
Not that this is all that important. Man, can the season start soon? Or maybe something interesting could happen?

It may only be intended as a joke, but frankly being called Gestapo is pretty offensive on many levels. Keep that in mind when you post something you think is funny on an internet board.

Thank you, kc. I mean, c'mon, as though it could even be considered a real comparison? I never said it was supposed to be funny as much as it was just supposed to be an outrageously stupid "comparison"...

Getting back to the hoyals05 comparison of PEII to VM, I guess the larger point being made is that a change can do you good. Either nobody could teach PEII how to shoot in Indiana (and they could at Georgetown) or he had the shooting skills and was not being used properly by the Hooisers coaches. He clearly needed a system where his amazing athletic ability could be stiffled under the yoke of the dreaded Princeton offense ;-). This is the same offense that is oppressing VM and his natural athletic ability to shoot the rock. For one athletic player it gets you a possible ticket to the NBA, for the other it holds you back from ever making the NBA.
For arguments sake, and because it is the off-season and there is nothing else to talk about, let's say you and Mr. Peabody had a "Way-Back" machine and could dial up PEII in 2005. You gave him ten chances to hit a three, a shot near the elbow, a foul shot, a mid range jumper and a five footer off the glass. And we all know that nobody save Cool Hand Luke and Jon Wallace could possibly make all 50 shots. How many do you think PEII would make? Now play the same hypothetical game with VM today. My point is that I think PEII was a way better shooter at the same point in his college career. I'm not sure I can prove it with in game stats -- VM's shooting percentage must be inflated by dunks where PEII actually shot 3s. I just find it hard to believe Florida will be able to develop his shot, rebounding, shot blocking ability or height (magic beans perhaps?) better than Georgetown which has a sotried reputation of producing the best big men in the country.

I'm not sure that it is a matter of "developing his shot" in Macklin's mind, although I think he certainly needs to become a better shooter. From everything I have read, it was simply a matter of "fit." I haven't heard any really negative comments from Macklin about GU and from following his career from the start, I don't remember anything serious in that regard. I don't even think it was really playing time either. He would stand to improve significantly next year most likely. I just think that once he got there, he realized that he didn't like the slow down, precision execution style of offense, and Florida was in the right place at the right time, with a sholarship to give and a class balance that he will fit into nicely as a Junior a year from now.
I still ask the question though: why do guys select a style of play that doesn't suit their game and then go to that school expecting it to? RDF's point about Florida having difficulty recruiting the top tier traditional power tailbacks is right on the money in that regard. That will be a problem, much like Oklahoma had difficulty getting the best QBs and WRs when they ran the wishbone all the time. Along those same lines, we landed Bo Williams a couple of years back, who was thought of as a tremendously talented traditional tailback. After one year, he decided that the system didn't fit him. Imagine that? But how did he not know that coming in? The same seems kind of true of Macklin and JT III's offense.

I don't think anyone is claiming that he is transferring because of the development of his own shot, hifi. Instead, the comment was intended to be a part of the comparison to PEII, and what stages they were at during their respective transfers.

Not that I agree with the referenced post, but if you can't post something stupid/offensive on a largely-anonymous internet message board, where can you? I didn't edit it out. Just pointing out that it was directed at me (and the other moderators), and I find the characterization offensive. One person's joke is often insulting to the other person. My point is that too often people here post stuff they think is funny without (apparently) thinking or caring what the subject might think and the fact that if it remains here it is searchable and shows up for quite a long time. Part of my job here is to moderate that stuff, particularly when it comes to players and staff. Internet anonymity does not absolve people of the need to follow certain standards of civility and courtesy here. Enough thread diversion.

Any updates on the transfer circuit concerning...anyone?
I'm also w/ KC and moe. We're anonymous. You can search this message board until you're blue in the face, but nothing posted here will ever impact a real person's life, so the offensive jokes bother me not.
Well, it does bother some people, and no, everyone is not anonymous. Idle transfer or GPA talk was not, is not, and will not be a part of the board. Consider this fair warning to follow board rules. --Admin

No one is ever anonymous on the Internet; I can't understand for the life of me why people think this is so. And it is VERY easy to figure out who someone is if you have the time or inclination, particularly when dealing with a base that, in large part, is easily identified as alumni of Georgetown. ON EDIT -- in your case, it wasn't even that hard. Got your name and hometown in two easy clicks. It's a pretty small world, and just imagine if you come to a friend of mine for an interview who says "hey, this guy F.B. went to Georgetown. did you know him?" And those "jokes" also reflect on the character of that base.
