Nice set up for Saturday's game... both teams played on the road (if you can call MSG on the road for us); we return home, while SH continues its trip; we had no players playing more than 29 minutes; SH went to OT and two played 45 minutes.

Seton Hall is a better, deeper (but not bigger) version of last year's team. Expect them to try to push tempo, but if we can establish ourselves on the boards--both ends--we should be fine.

Seton Hall is on a legitimate roll right now. Five in a row in conference is great for anyone in the Big East at this point.
They like to play up tempo and create a lot of there offense off of their defense. Taking care of the ball will be even more important to the Hoyas in this one.
They do have strong guards that are very willing to drive on every possession if they feel they have an advantage. This was key in their victories over Louisville, Providence, and last night in OT at Rutgers. Sapp and Rivers will need to continue their stellar defensive play.
On the positive side, they don't have the athletic big bodies up from that give us so many problems. Preventing penetration by the guards will likely result in good rebounding numbers for the Hoyas.
Because of the Pirates propensity to get out and run, we'll likely see more of the inside --> out focus to the Hoya offense. Minimize long rebounds, it'll cut out a solid chunk of Seton Hall's game.

This game should be a joke if we are a true top ten team. At home against a team that plays limited D. Put the next two in the W column if we are legit and saddle up for our trip to the Ville.

Random fact Seton Hall is 4-1 in OT this year. random quote, we are 100% in OT this year. Saw some of the rutgers game. We should do well against them. Hopefully we will have summers back, who can get back in defense, when they try run and again. But i think rivers and freeman should be able to handle that if he is not. -m

Random fact Seton Hall is 4-1 in OT this year. Those five teams were... Monmouth Robert Morris (SHU was down 23 in the second half) James Madison Penn State (the loss) Rutgers (last night) Soooooo...skating by a LOT earlier in the season. All of their losses are against passable teams or better-- at PSU, NC State, at St. Mary's, UConn, at Marquette, at Pitt. Louisville (huge second half), UVA (neutral site--huge first half) and Cincy (I guess) are their biggest wins. The things I keep seeing with The Hall are the tempo, the perpetual jump shooting, and the streakiness. The team that went to OT against Monmouth and the team that blew UL out of the building in the second half are the same team...I have no idea which will show up Saturday. Probably both.

wasn't that some weird stuff with Eddie Griffin? Tragic. i was at that game at brendan byrne when hunter dunked on griffin and griffen popped shine after the game. i always liked shine, gritty guard that gave good effort. griffin - what can you say? a top talent with a lack of mental stability. a damn shame.

Wish I could find the Hunter dunk vs Seton Hall, but this is the best I could do. If anyone has it please post.

Actually, Griffin and Shine got into after the game at the MCI Center, not at the Meadowlands.

SHU's defense is horrible - raw 244th, adj 160th in the nation accrdng to kenpom (we are 12th, by comparison). while they do play pretty uptempo, their streakiness is their demise, and i doubt they'll be patient enough to contend with our suffocating brand of D. take into account that we're one of the most efficient offensive teams in the nation, and we're looking at a 20 pt victory (not to quote pomeroy again, but he projects 81-63 Hoyas). can't wait for saturday ... something about hoops at the booth in february makes me happy

Off topic but I'm out in Phoenix for the Super Bowl and am testing site access from my Blackberry. Well, technically I'm killing time while en route to AZ (having a few beers at the airport in Denver). I have no point other than I'm glad I can get on the board from my phone and I'm truly sad to miss the Seton Hall game, so you guys had better root extra hard.

according to their rivals site there's going to be tons of seton hall fans at verizon on saturday a 120 person alumni group coming down plus at least one bus of students. Not good. I'm assuiming/hoping they're up in the 400's, but lets sure to be there early and to be loud and drown them out. Oh and for the boys on the court, don' t let them to have anything to cheer about. make sure they have a long sad trip back to jersey.

Sounds great--here's to Seton Hall fans pouring money into the G'town athletic department for tickets, while we stomp them on the court. Highly doubtful that tomorrow's game could reach sellout proportions, but I'd love to see it cross the 15 or 16K attendance mark.

What's the best "gloat" post that's ever been posted to Hoyatalk? "Sorry, can't say much, I'm at the Super Bowl" and "Nothing new, just got my new IPhone" seem to have the lead.
