I hope it is a tweak/sprain instead of a more serious tear. If anyone gets info on Summers' injury let us know!

According to Chvotkin on the radio, Summers injured his ankle.
Posters are reminded not to speculate on the board about player injuries. There will certainly be coverage of this in the post-game newspaper articles.

Didn't even see what happened but I almost thought it was a cramp from the way he went and sat down in front of the bench. Based on Chvotkin's comments, I hope its just a small thing and he comes back strong.

Nothing substantive in the initial AP recap.

Ugggh, I don't like how that sounds. How did we go from being such a deep team to suddenly hurting for bodies with the loss of just 2 guys? Crawford is gonna have to step up regardless because of Wright, but now if Summers is gone, who's up? I think we should all go pray since tomorrow is Sunday.

I don't think there's any doubt that if Summers is out, Macklin is the man.
If that happens we probably look a little like this:
Wallace 30 Sapp 33 Freeman 32 Ewing 26 Hibbert 30
Bench (We need 49 minutes)
Rivers 18 (same role) Macklin 24 (now at 4 and 5) Crawford 7 (essentially Freeman's back-up in 3-guard)
Ideal? No but for having two guys go down, the Hoyas could manage it better than a lot of teams.

Just watched a replay, and it looked to me like an ankle. Obviously, just my speculation, but that's what it looked like to me.

Real time, I thought he banged knees with the player he was guarding.

I was there and don't recall the specific play but Lorry helped carry him into the locker room right after it happened. I couldn't even pay attention to the game for the next minute.
He came back out a few minutes later but was still curled up on the floor at the end of the bench. He was moving better at that point, but obviously I was kind of far away so I can't give a diagnosis.

After looking at my DVD replay, when he returns to the floor, his left ankle is in a boot. It may be a couple of days for the swelling to subside if it exists to be sure of the extent of the injury. Sprains can be over in a few days or linger for months.

One of the replays allows you to see him leap from his seat at the end of the bench when Jesse's shot goes in, but he clearly comes down on only one foot.

It's never good to see when a player goes directly into the locker room... I'm still really worried. Where's the AD release?

I thought when the WVU player (I think it was Butler) made his cut, Dajuan's foot came down on the other guy's. Which ankle did he hurt last year?

If Summers has to sit out the next 2 or 3 games, but then can come back at full speed and mobility, then this could be a blessing in disguise. With Ewing and Macklin at the 4, the team will have to focus on the basics: defense, rebounding, and running the offense through Roy, and we have a stretch of games, SJU, Seton Hall, and USF, to figure that out. Roy needs to demand the ball, and Ewing and Macklin need to try for double-figure rebounds.
If Summers injury is more serious, then JT3 may need to end the Nikita redshirt option and get him some minutes so he can be ready if our big guys have foul trouble or any additional injuries.

No matter how bad the injury is it may be best if dajuan sat the game on wed and even on sat to let it completely heal, we dont want what happened to chris where it seems it wasn't completely healed yet. it really doesnt hurt also that our next three opponents are 5-15 in BE. this should allow the team to find its offensive rhythm which has been offensive these past few games (aren't puns great!)

Almost all these posts seem like speculation to me. There is limited to no information about the injury or the extent of it. It will come with time and we should not play hypotheticals or make assumptions. While I disagree about some policies on the board, I'm strongly in favor this rule.
