Agree with Just Cos. Even if the injury is 'just a sprain' often the length of time needed to heal properly is not apparent until a couple days after the injury.
There will likely be some indication of where it stands in the pregame articles for the SJU game. Until then, it's all speculation.

Admins,
just for clarification (im really not trying to be smart), i can see that post about how long we think dajuan will be out or what happened to him can be speculation. but what about comments about what we saw last night (either at the game or on tv). like if someone says "on the replay it looked like..." is that speculation? what about comments (like mine a few posts back) about the impact of an injury could have on the team and how we personally would like to see the situation handled, is that speculation?

Parsing parsing parsing.....
What is not appropriate is posting 'insider' rumor about what a player's injury is or how long he will be out. That sort of thing is not verifiable unless the program or the player releases an official statement about it and is unfair to the player's medical privacy. It is a lot like things that occasionally get posted here that say that there is a rumor that a player is in academic danger because that's the "word on campus." 99% of posts like that end up being wrong.
Of course it's OK to talk about what the rotation might look like if a player is out for a game or more.

I understand the policy, but you guys underestimate "the word on campus." Lots of information that the AD and JTIII lock up to the public is freely flowing amongst students, like Wright's latest injury. But I def understand the reason for the rule, I just hope that people don't become so averse to anything that's not printed in ink.
That being said... there is no "word on campus" whatsoever about Dajuan. Nor I guess would I even be allowed to post it if there was.

Frpm the Washington Post:
"DaJuan Summers . . . suffered a high ankle sprain in the final minutes of a 58-57 victory over West Virginia . . . . The ankle is not broken, according to Coach John Thompson."
Not much, but it is what it is.

For comparison, Syndy Crosby's recent high ankle sprain has him out 6-8 weeks.

EFFFFFFFFF
I think we have to address the possibility that we will be without DS for the rest of the regular season.
C: Hibb PF: Ewing SF: Freeman SG: Sapp PG: Wallace
that is a small-ass lineup considering Pat runs more like 6'7

It would have been nice if Camille or whoever wrote that story could have put an adjective before the word "high ankle sprain" like "mild", "severe", etc. I still feel like we're in the dark here. Brady has a mild high ankle sprain and will, most likely, be playing this weekend. (It certainly didn't stop him from hitting the clubs with Gisele on his arm the day after it happened.) Not saying that's highly analogous, but still... From the very extensive research I've done on the subject (including going so far as to type in the word "high ankle sprain" at Google and hitting enter), it looks like 6 weeks recovery is standard.

I also think we COULD potentially see Vernon at PF. Roy will inevitably tire before Vernon (or at least that's my impression of their respective staminas), so Vernon slips down to C when Ewing comes in at PF.

Depth becomes a pretty major concern here, though, because we no longer have the luxury of bringing another 6'8" guy off the bench.

Bottom line: the Hoyas need Dajaun to win the national championship. Without him, we have an outside shot at the Final Four at best.
Best wishes to Dajaun for a speedy and complete recovery. He is a heckuva competitor and seems like a nice guy and I hate to see him go down like that.

High ankle sprain is much worse in hoops than football. Remember Keith Bogans a few years back? Pretty much killed Kentucy's potential run to the Final Four.

A break is better then a high ankle sprain in terms of recovery/healing. Better hope Summers can channel his "inner TO" and return in 3 weeks. All seriousness, what sucks about the injury is that Dajuan will feel like he can run by Wednesday--he'll be able to take about 2/3 strides and then it feels like crap all over again. You can walk and feel great--but that is why you get crutches/boot because it's not good for the recovery process and it's frustrating because minor walking, you feel like 100% and then reality sets in after trying to run hard.

Well this sucks. Our immediate goal is still a regular season title but that just got a lot harder to do. If Vern can reproduce what he showed us @ Pitt then that will help to mitigate the damage but we really need everyone to step up
