To the young alumni in Section 104, Row N, with the seats to the left (or right, depending on your point of view) of seat #6, you are an embarassment to your school, its basketball team, and its REAL fans.
Due to your actions, five UConn fans landed plumb seats in the middle of the YA section, disrupting cheers and generally offending righteous, freedom-loving Hoyas fans with their odious presence throughout the game.
We live in a capitalist society, and everyone has the right to get the best price for his ticket, but some things are a bit more important than procuring enough extra scratch to spring for the Blue Moon as opposed to the Busch Light pitcher at the Tombs.
Sack up, take the $20 loss, and see to it that you NEVER sell your tickets to a bunch of chump opposing fans EVER AGAIN. That you did it once is embarrassing; twice would be downright treacherous.
Feel free to post all rants against traitorous season ticket holders in this thread. And admins, nothing ruins the fan experience quite like opposing fans in season ticket sections, so please view this as a legitimate thread.

I agree that this is a legitimate topic of conversation. Luckily, there are very few opposing fans in the lower bowl anymore, but the few who manage to get tickets are really obnoxious. We had 2 Uconn fans in 104 Row E. I'm pretty sure a Georgetown fan brought 2 of his Uconn friends. It's one thing to sit in the upper deck with them, but giving or selling them prime seats in the lower bowl is disgusting. I don't see how a real Georgetown fan could do that.
I feel there should be some system implemented in which people selling tickets to opposing fans should be reported and at first be warned about such activity, and if they fail to stop, potentially be threatened with the loss of season tickets, especially in the young alumni sections. There is a ton of demand for these tickets now, and if certain people don't care enough to show up, or cant make it and are selling their tickets to the enemy they should be punished.

To give them the benefit of the doubt, they (like the season ticket holders in front of our seats) likely did what the school encouraged them to do: put the tickets on Stubhub. Fortunately for the school, they make some extra profit on such sales (amount unknown to me).
Unfortunately for those nearby, Stubhub does not have a "block visiting team's fans from buying these seats" option. It's a fact of life we'll have to live with unless all season ticket holders can make more of an effort to get the tickets into the hands of Hoya fans (I know we do with ours).
On the plus side, it was pretty sweet when Mr. Hibbert shut them up.

Isn't there a better system that could be set up? I find this really frustrating and think that encouraging a system that puts tickets in the hands of the enemy is absurd. How much do we make off of this system? If its really that profitable I guess it makes sense for us, but I think there has to be something better.

Ha! Isn't this a great problem to have?
I certainly don't like seeing opposing fans in good seats, but it's even more fun to shut them up.
And GUHoya2007 - I love your enthusiasm, but by your definition, I'd be penalized if my father sat with me when we play Villanova(he's a Villanova alum). What's the point of getting him a ticket if I can't sit next to him and taunt him?
To the larger point: McQ is right. If GU is going to encourage fans to use StubHub, this will happen. So be it. We do the same at other arenas.

They were yelling a lot of stuff that got annoying. They were alright early on, but they got worse as they drank more. They also thought they were hilarious as they chanted "spoiled white kids" in between every break in "Lets Go Hoyas".

One of my friends was guilty of this crime this weekend in section 104. I will be sure to pass along these comments. These guy really frustrated me at the game, so much so I accidentally took it out on a little kid in the concourse wearing a Duke sweatshirt. Never should have yelled at that little guy, but what were his parents' thinking!

I still need a ticket for Syracuse. If I see any orange in a seat that is better than mine I will be livid!
I agree that this is absolutely unacceptable. There is no need to go on StubHub when there are plenty of Hoya fans looking for tickets on this very board.

I agree with Jahidi. I am looking for up to four tickets for both the ND and Cuse games and have posted multiple times on the Ticket Exchange thread on this board (PM me if you have any extras or a lead on extras).
If any ticket-holding member of this board is out selling their tickets on ebay or StubHub for a marginal profit (we're talking maybe $40 per ticket), and they end up in the hands of an orange-clad fan, they should be ashamed of themselves.
Always check the Ticket Exchange thread first, people.

No Huskies managed to get into the student section from what I could see, even though practically every other school in the nation is still on break and everyone was trying to scrounge up an extra ticket for brother/sister/friend.
Hell I even got this email in my inbox
"Hope everyone's semester is starting off good. I have a friend visiting this weekend and hes a huge Uconn fan. If you have an extra ticket to the Uconn vs Gtown this Saturday at 2, or are not using your ticket could you please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to slip it under my door"
fortunately it looks like he didn't get a ticket

Wasn't happy with the UConn fans (and UConn baby) immediately to my left in Section 121. Luckily ol' cue ball had to accept a loss that shut him up real good.

I'm not giving tickets to the enemy, but receiving them. So here's my moral dilemma:
I have a friend at work who is a huge Pitt fan, and I have had the upper hand over him for quite some time now (as Barker Davis so kindly pointed out). Nice guy and everything, but we do talk some trash to each other during the year.
This friend also has managed to procure for me, free of charge, two suite tickets to the Notre Dame game so I can take my dad to the game in style.
Unfortunately, this means I have to bite my tongue all day and be nice. Not only that, but the tickets don't get here until Friday, so should the basketball gods smile upon the Hoyas tonight, I have to be nice all week as well. (I don't want to think about how much @#$% I'm going to have to take this week if tonight's game doesn't go well.)
This is all apropos of nothing, just wanted to share my pain. This seemed like the thread to do it.

hoyatables - I sit in section 121 just to the other side of where the cue-ball was sitting. If not for the u-conn baby in their lap, I would have been tempted to "accidently" spill a little of my beverage on his head. To make matters worse, both of the Boxes right behind us were full of u-convicts. I don't think there is any way to practically keep opposing fans from buying prime seats, I just don't understand why some people think it is ok to act like an %$#* when sitting amongst the home team's most avid supporters.

So basically, what you're saying is that you want the Athletic Dept. / Verizon to, prior to each game, provide you with a list of where the opposing fans are sitting, so that you can personally tear them limb from limb? ;D

I'm so glad this thread was started. there were about 10-15 UConn fans sitting behind me in the lower bowl. Who is giving these people tickets? I'd rather eat the cost than sit next to an opposing fan, that's why you never sell to scalpers and always email friends before relinquiahing control of the tickets!!!
Everytime they shouted I glared, and then there was the obligatory jersey popping when Big Roy drained the three. If there weren't moderately attractive girls in the group, they'd have no redeeming quality whatsoever. Actually, scratch that, UConn fans are inherently ugly despite their outward appearance. Thank God we beat them. Go Hoyas!!!

That's an excellent question, and I think it depends on what one considers to be acting like a jerk. There are plenty of times in the last ten years that I have gone to away games, sometimes getting tickets through Hoya Blue/Hoop Club, sometimes through ticketmaster, and sometimes through friends at the other school. And while I tend not to launch into profanity-laced tirades (with the general exception of the Big East Tournament), I am sure there are plenty of home fans who say, "how did that jerk get seats here."
Personally, I don't have strong feelings one way or another on this particular issue. I've always had more than enough Hoya fans looking for my extras that I've never gone the stubhub/craigslist route.
But I guess my not-too-distance memories of having half the 100 level at MCI be full of Cuse/UConn/WVU/Notre Dame/Duke/Illinois/etc. fans makes it hard for me to complain much about the current situation. To my mind, when we can be concerned about individual opposing fans in good seats (rather than teeming masses of them), we're making progress.

Section 118 seemed to be all clear. Granted my seat doesn't give me the greatest vantage point to see what's going on in the back of the section, but it seemed 100% Gtown (and mostly class of 2006, which is cool). One of the problems is that a lot of companies in the DC area own boxes or lower bowl seats to these games and they raffle them or make them available to employees in such a way that opposing fans have an equal shot at getting them. If anyone can identify such companies, I will begin to divest myself from them.
