Except perhaps Belichick videotaping the other team....which just happens to be coached by his former assistant who almost certainly knew EXACTLY what he was doing. Didn't you hear? The Jets had a sting operation to try and catch the guy because apparently last time they tried to catch him they caught him before he could actually get any tape they would have needed for proof. I would hate to be a Jets fan now, because you just know Belichek is going to flat out embarass the Jets on the field from now to eternity.

Yeah, the audacity of those Jets for trying to catch a cheater in the act of cheating them.
The league sure didn't like it. ESPN is reporting that Belichick was fined $500,000 and the Pats $250,000, The Pats will also lose a draft pick (first rounder if they make the playoffs, which is obviously pretty likely; but they still have another first-rounder, apparently).
Belichick's an ass. He should have been suspended.

Memo from Belichek to Goodell: Kiss my a*&. The Norv Turner regime is officially underway in San Diego. I know Marty wasn't the answer, but c'mon, Norv Turner? I am almost willing to bet that the Chargers will be lucky to break 10 wins and make the playoffs this year, despite LT.
And the Coughlin watch in on in NYC. Getting blown out at home by grampa and an anemic cheesehead offense? Ugly.

The Jets suck. The Chargers will suck--it's the Norv Turner effect--the only thing to expect is more penalties--as his teams always are undisciplined. The man is a good OC and a lousy Head Coach. He has the look of a ball boy--not a leader. Chargers still haven't upgraded their WR unit or their Secondary--and until they do it--they are paper threats.

Another great game by Favre, now the all-time leader in number of wins. Picked the Giants apart with the only interception a perfect pass that bounced off the receiver into the hands of a Giant. What a quarterback!

The path of destruction that coach Norv Turner has left in his wake is near epic. No NFL franchise has yet recovered from his stewardship. (Hell, it even took USC and Oregon years to get back on track.) Redskins, Dolphins, Raiders...what do they all have in common? They all brought in Norv (well, Miami as coordinator only) and they all have sucked ever since he was there. Yes, those franchises have other problems, but do not distract me from my common thread, thank you very much. I'm not even convinced he's a great coordinator. Sure, he's got the Cowboys on his resume. But it helps when you have one of the greatest running backs - if not THE greatest - of all time, a Hall of Fame QB, a Hall of Fame WR, a possible Hall of Fame TE and one of the best offensive lines assembled. Honestly, I can't figure out how this guy still gets work doing anything but selling programs.

And Farve now only needs three more picks to set the record!

Actually I thought Jackson did a pretty good Favre imitation yesterday--4 INT's in a game--and domed stadium that Brett always struggles in--thought it was a tribute to Brett.
Celebrating his performance against the Giants is laughable--or I take it you didn't see Tony Romo put up 350+ and 4 TD's on 15 completions on opening weekend?
If Favre does his usual--he'll have a crappy game against Chargers--who GB should be able to beat. But Merriman is going to get pressure and Favre will revert to throwing off his back foot and his "bumpkin" plays that make people love him and ignore his terrible mechanics and costly plays that end up ending GB's season as much as exciting the fans.

I just hope he saves the record setting interception for the Metrodome. It'd be a fitting place to do it, considering Farve's history there.

Honestly - I know the Gints suck this year. And I fully expect them to lose by two TDs next week, through no fault of Norv's. For the rest of the season, best case scenario is 9-7, if only because the rest of the conference sucks. As for Favre, I've been hoping he'd retire for about 3-4 yrs now, especially w/all the crap he throws up for grabs. With that in mind, I know that yesterday will probably be Favre's best performance of the year -- especially after he breaks the TD record. That said, my main point was that as bad as Favre can be, the only team whose QB options are worse than the Vikings are the Chiefs -- and that's saying something.

Chargers GM should have been fired for dumping Marty for Norv. Marty may have his own playoff issues, but at least he gets teams to the playoffs. Norv leads teams to oblivion.
He'll probably be UCLA's next head coach.

Good job Andy, nice one
I really liked how you called a TO to try and ice a kicker on a 26 yard attempt. I bet if they came back and tried to kick it he would have totally shanked it. There's no way they'll come back and takeover the game...

Is it possible that, one of these days, ESPN's announcers (and guests) will actually talk about the game that's underway? Next time I'll turn off the volume and turn on the radio so I don't have to listen ad nauseum to how the Eagles' fans owe the coach and McNabb so much for the good times they have provided, etc. No one provides any meaningful insight into the game.

The sad thing is, the answer is no. ESPN thinks that it's important to discuss "storylines", not the game. So you get the lectures for Eagles fans, game long discussions of Vick, Patriots cheating, etc... It sucks.

Here's a question--Barkley goes on and on about Andy Reid and McNabb not getting a "fair shake" from the fanbase. Said he didn't either. Could it be that Philly fans realize they won because of their defense and those 2 guys were holding them back from taking the next step? Could it be that what Rush Limbaugh really said--and was absolutely correct on--that Eagles won due to DEFENSE--not McNabb's play--was true? His statement about the NFL and Black QB's was wrong--his specific statement about McNabb and Eagles success was dead on. He also said that Favre needed to be a secondary player and not focal point in GB if they were to win--and that never got mentioned due to McNabb taking a statement and manipulating it for sympathy. He goes back to this excuse tonight on Bryant Gumbel's show--which is a joke. QB's get the credit/blame period. Joey Harrington is whiter then the Republican Convention and he takes more abuse then any QB in FB. Kyle Boller? Drew Bledsoe? Jake Plummer? Peyton Manning was putting up numbers that nobody has--and he caught it until last year-when he won on the field and silenced the critics. McNabb? He goes to this again. Fact is--McNabb went to broadcaster friendly Syracuse--and many of their alums made him bigger then he was due to his affiliation-the results of Philly were more due to Jim Johnson's defense then anything on offense. McNabb is a good QB--but he's not great. McNair--he's not bad because he's Black-he's bad. Boller is better then McNair and yet Boller takes more heat. Jason Campbell looks a lot better then Mark Brunell and last time I checked Skin fans wanted Brunell benched. Garrard is loved in Jacksonville-and he's black. Vince Young--loved in Tennessee. WINNING is what fans are loyal to and when they see you play for years and have nothing but one year where you made Super Bowl with guy on your team you said you didn't need--well they tend to get a bit judgemental.
Facts are--McNabb opened his mouth about Terrell Owens-he said the team would be better without him--since then--what has happened? How have the Eagles fared? What is their record with McNabb starting and without him starting? Did their fans not see them win the NFC East and get to the 2nd Round with Jeff Garcia playing QB? If you truly are an elite player--does your team get better results without you? Are Eagles as good without TO as they were with him? NO--were they as good without McNabb? No--they were better. So that is why Eagle fans have TURNED on McNabb--they see the results and fans only care about results--there is no love affair and your only loyalty is to the team you support--not individuals. If McNabb had backed up his claims during the Owens stuff--he'd have them on his side--but fans saw the results--and have right to their opinion.
