On a related note, Colin Cowherd did a segment highliting the numerous wideouts with "baggage." He had a theory about why so many of the troublesome primadonas are wide receivers. And if you think about it, there sure are a lot of them with "issues." From Terrell Owens to Randy Moss to Horn to Ashley LeLei(sp?) to Deon Branch to Santonio Moss etc... Colin's theory was that they were an island from the start. They break the huddle and run out there on their own. Everyone else is kind of together. In a tongue in cheek sort of way I think he might have had a point.

He is definitely opinionated. I must admit though that I really enjoy his show. The Spanning the Globe segment at 10:20 is great and his monologues make that boring drive to work go by much quicker.

Just curious what everyone here thinks of Cowherd. I honestly enjoy the show and that is what talk radio is really all about -- entertainment. I am not a huge Kornheiser fan but I listen to him some. The guy I really can't stand much of is Dan Patrick. He does have some really good guests but by himself he is so friggin vanilla and boring. Jim Rome is just the opposite. As entertaining as he is sometimes, he is so full of himself that a little goes a long way. I also enjoy JT the Brick and I really like Papa Joe Chevalier, although his show isn't covered in this area.

I will hang up and listen...sportstalk radio is mostly garbage. The callers call in to flex their so-called wit in order to impress god knows who. The hosts bait people into getting angry only to make themselves look better or to just flush callers.
The thing about Kornheiser is that he never had athletes on his radio shows and he actually had guests from careers other than sports or sportswriters to talk about sports and other issues. That and he was ready to slam anybody at the drop of a hat.
more importantly, as a UT fan, I do not appreciate your anti-Tennessee humor. I have said it before and I will say it again-It ain't like Gainesville is some bastion of culture. Also, if it weren't for the students the city would just be another hole-in-the-wall little Florida town like Inverness or Frostproof or Starke. Plus, it is not like recent UF receivers have a stellar NFL track record either!

I also enjoy JT the Brick The first time I heard this guy's show I thought he was calling himself "JT the Prick." He did nothing in the next 20 minutes (can't believe I listened that long) to disprove that. VE is right, 97% of the national sports talk radio out there is utter schlock, and the vast majority of it is negative. I only listen to it on road trips through God's country where the only FM stations that come in are Christian Rock and Christian Talk. The exception to that rule is listening to Jim Rome do interviews. He gets people who have achieved something positive on or off the field and focuses on the positive in the interview. I think he's come a long way from the "Chris Everett" days. Guys like Cowherd, on the other hand, aren't entertaining unless you're the kind of guy who finds playground bullying engaging.

Cowherd and JT the Brick suck. And I don't like anyone who likes them or their over the top, confrontational to be annoying, did no research because I'm a lazy-ass style of "analysis."
Sports radio is awful. These people are idiots.

By the way...Fire Joe Morgan is pure fricking genius. My second favorite baseball blog on the web, I think (even though it isn't limited to baseball announcing).

Boy, you guys really don't like Cowherd I see. It's odd that I don't see the same style that you do. YOur descriptions sound more like you are talking about Jim Rome than Colin.
To each his own I guess. As for sports talk in general, I think you guys are off your rocker. That is one of the pleasant parts of taking a road trip --- listening to different sports talk shows from different areas. It really makes a long drive so much more enjoyable. I enjoyed Tony Besellio (sp?) in the Tennessee are as well as a great station from New Orleans when we travel to Baton ROuge.

I tried to fight Tony B. in a bar on the strip in Knoxville after an early season UT game. He was broadcasting there and he was saying that UT looked like the 2nd best team in the country. I told him that he was a homer and out of m'f'n mind. He proceeded to ask me on the air who the 2nd best team in the country was and I responded that it was probably Miami's 2nd team! btw, I am a UT fan in case you couldn't have guessed.
aggy, peerless went to UT. Does that make it relevant? no? I didn't think so.

Actually, this was a post for Buff. I noticed that his LEAST favorite receiver is back on his team.
I think only SFHOYA caught my attempt at sarcasm.

Don't get me started on Marv bringing back PeerLESS. I went through five years of Donohoe directing the Bills with no clear "plan": people couldn't figure out what he was building from year-to-year, whether it was bringing in young guys, vets, offense, defense... the guy was a joke. We've only had Marv back for a few months, but already people can see what he's trying to build, the kind of players he wants, etc... ... and then he brings back this joker. And he's going to make the team over more deserving guys (I have a feeling a few solid, young wideouts are gonna get cut). And I'm going to cry. Of course, I'm going to give PeerLESS the benefit of the doubt and give him a chance to redeem himself and his pathetic, early-in-his-career attitude. So we'll see... EDIT: Of course, leave it to hifi to completely hijack a thread to serve his own agenda. What an @$$hole...

That was classic comedy and still make my fans laugh imitating Levy. That and the fact everytime I see something on Reggie White they feel the need to play clips of him with his singing of "Amazing Grace" in background. Just painful.

RDF - any legit Bills fan will know the opening verse to that song and laugh out loud at Marv for writing/performing it (there's a long story as to why, which involves copyright issues regarding the team's theme song which is based on "Shout!" and he wrote it as a possible replacement). And you're 100% correct - COMEDIC GOLD!!! " Go Bills, for we are here to cheer for you / go Bills, we are your fans so TRUUUUUUUUUUE!!!"
