They kind of look like the Pistons uniforms when Grant Hill was an overrated failure for them back in '90's/early '00's. Hope they have the same results for his "Arrogantness" MJ.

I didn't know two players are allowed to have the same jersey number.

Why isn't this thread locked? Certainly the color of an NBA team's jersies is not very relevant. I post the schedule of a college team and offer short discussion of some of the tougher games, against the likes of fellow top 10 teams in Kansas and Ohio St. and you lock the thread. Someone posts a link and discusses what color an NBA team's new jersies will be and it is somehow "newsworthy?" This is double standard without a doubt. Suppose just for a minute that I had posted the story about the Bobcats jersies. Now how long would it take for you guys to razz me about not giving a crap about the Bobcats jersies. Incidentally I did post the Gator schedule on the appropriate board -- one dedicated to other college and pro teams.

Are you so in need of affirmation that you're calling out a double standard on locking this thread? Is your life that miserable that you're cranky about the fact that you're held to a higher standard around here than, say, actual HOYA fans? What do you want, hifi? A friend? A hug? Respect and love from an anonymous online community of people with whom you have very little in common? Is that it?

Cam, I don't really care if they locked this thread ... or the other one for that matter. I am not really used to that practice. The only censering I normally encounter is if someone comes in and says something vulgar or socially inappropriate. If a thread is locked for some unknown or arbitrary reason then I would think that the color of an NBA team's new uniforms might be kind of near the top of a very short list, don't you?
And in total honesty, if I had started this thread how many of you would be giving me a bag of sh!t for not caring and calling it "clutter?" Be honest.

Hifi, So sorry you're stuck down there wearing jean shorts in the Swamp State but until you have a team that can win a game against SC, take a breather.

TigerHoya, what is your infatuation with South Carolina? I presume you are talking about football and yes they upset us in a close game at their house last year. South Carolina was a solid team last year, not great but solid. There is not really that much shame in losing a game to them on the road no less. But it was the first time they had beaten us in something like 40 years. I don't understand your bringing it up again. Hats off to them for last year. We will beat them this year, don't you worry. I will gladly take some of your money if you think otherwise. If you aren't talking about football, then we beat South Carolina in hoops in the SEC tourny final, relegating them to the NIT -- which they won for the second time in a row. What exactly is your point?

Threads are locked as "clutter" when there already exists a thread on the same topic. If you had started this thread it would have been discussed exactly as it has here. Your all-Florida threads are rightfully locked as troll posts because they serve only to elicit a negative response on the board. They have since day one, you know they do, and yet your continued attempts to start such threads illustrates your message board flamer-like tendencies. You've brought this upon yourself. The proper forum for those discussions is a UF board, especially considering there are no other UF fans around here. Discussions about the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, college sports, NHL, NBA, etc. survive because there are other fans of those teams/sports on the Pro & College board.

Incidentally I am not wearing jean shorts. I am acutually in a preppy outfit today, not that I am proud of it. I am wearing slacks and a lime green golf shiry. I know, but my wife picked it out and I was "forced" to wear it today. I do normally have a Gator T shirt on during the summer.

Hifi, So your team managed to win the national championship after losing 2 of 3 to the Cocks?
You left out those first two games for obvious reasons and losing to them in football is inexcusable no matter who their coach is.

Hifi, So your team managed to win the national championship after losing 2 of 3 to the Cocks? You left out those first two games for obvious reasons and losing to them in football is inexcusable no matter who their coach is. You make a valid point ... well, not quite, but almost. The far too obvious answer is to initially admit that although we did lose the first two to the Cocks, that when all was said and done, those losses are not the embarrassments which they originally appeared. Not only did we win the big trophy at the end, but those lowly cocks took home the "best of the rest" by winning the NIT. And for further support of this argument, look no further than the fact that the SEC not only featured the winner of the Gold but also another final four team in LSU. Personally, I think that the SEC was unfairly downgraded as a conference leading into the conference schedule. THen since we were playing only each other, there was no way to overcome that misconception. In all honesty, I really attribute it to "Big Blue" not being their traditional self. Had Kentucky been the perennial top 8 or so team that they routinely are, then the conference as a whole would have had an entirely different image. I made this point early and often as we were viewed as almost a mid major. For what it is worth, I had the Big East as the best conference and withouth any serious competition. But so many columnists insisted of dropping the SEC below the Big 10 and even the ACC as well. SOme even jumped on that MVC bandwagon. From my perspective, I think the MVC might have been better than the ACC and very competitive with the Big 10. In any case, I think the SEC never got its just reward and I place the blame on Kentucky being caught by the likes of Florida under Donovan and at least for one year, Tennessee under Pearl. As to your general premise concerning the "Spurrier jinx" I just wanted you to mention it first. I admit that playing against the "evil genius" can be intimidating, but I placed zero significance in any of the other sports. Basically, we were not a very good road team on the gridiron last year. South Carolina was a better basketball team than people thought. The only game for which we really have no excuse was the loss at home. After they upset us up there, I think we all expected to walk out there and mop up the floor with them. We didn't give them any respect and that was a fatal error at that time. Ironically, they "upset" Ky. in the SEC tourny and we got a shot at redemption. By then we knew that the press clippings were bogus and were fortunate enough to scratch out a tough win. THe rest is history.

South Carolina consistently loses to Clemson in hoops the past few years and they haven't won an NCAA tourney game since before I was born (I'm 32.) Their whole program is a joke.
They haven't beaten their rival in football two times in a row since before I was born either. Their last win prior to 2005 against your Gators was in 1939.
Their only NCAA-sanctioned national championship is in Women's Track. They do have one in Women's Equestrian as well.

I will take your word for it, as I am admittedly not abreast of Equestrian accolades. That aside, what is your point? Yes, we lost to South Carolina twice in hoops and then beat them in the Conference final. No, I wasn't happy about either loss ... but then again what loss do I like? What loss do you like ... how about your most recent one? That is one of my favorites. The point is that South Carolina was not nearly as "bad" of a team as originally considered. Accordingly the SEC was not "down" as originally deemed by the "expert" pundits. As for football, we were simply not very good on the road at all last year, as illustrated by our 1-3 record, but a close loss to a bowl team on the road is not an embarrassment. I am not rationalizing anything just pointing out that there are losses and there are bad losses. As irritating as the SC game was, it wasn't a "bad" loss, it just felt that way since as everything worked out, had we won we would have been playing in Atlanta for the SEC title. Honestly, I don't think we were a good enough team for that honor. Now this year ...

hifi, no loss to SC in any sport, save baseball, is a "good" loss....
they're all bad...
especially when you're a team as great as you make yours out to be
