Fullerton wins 7-6 over Clemson and goes on to face UNC tomorrow in the Bracket 1 final (UNC needs 1 win, Fullerton needs 2.) The game lasted 4 hours and 5 minutes.
Miami and Oregon State play next in the Bracket 2 elimination game with the winner facing Rice.

Miami eliminated after losing 8-1 to the Beavers.
Oregon State now has to win two straight against Rice to make the finals.

Anytime the University of Miami is eliminated in anything ... it is a good thing! How are the gators doing in the College World Series? Ouch! We didn't "quite" make it that far. We did sweep three from Miami in Coral Gables though. Man, this year was a severe disappointment on the diamond though. We finished at .500 ... but "at least" my Braves are screwing the pooch as well.

Ironically, I swear on the Bible, I am wearing a shirt from last year's college world series right now.

NC-Fullerton is at 5 EDT and Rice-OSU is after that. If either series need Game 2 they would be tomorrow night. The championship series is Sat., Sun and, if needed, Mon.

Really looking for Fullerton to push UNC tonight and possibly in their next game -- they have a solid team with tons of CWS experience. Think Rice will take care of business tonight against OSU.

Prior to yesterday I was picking Rice to win the whole thing.
Who knows now...

Pretty disappointing that Rice laid an egg two nights in a row. Can't say I'm too into this CWS final. I'll probably tune in to watch Miller pitch for UNC, but that's about it. BTW I'm picking the Beavers to win it all -- Pac10 is overdue for a title and OSU has momentum.

I'm pulling for OSU to win since I can't pull for NC except when they play SC and ND.
NC is up 2-1 in the 5th according to the NCAA gametracker. I'm at a Panera Bread right now and not near a TV. The gametracker is usually behind.

UNC takes the first game 4-3. OSU got the leadoff man on in the 9th and sacrificed, but UNC's closer (can't remember his name at the moment) came on and struck out the Beavers' #1 and #2 hitters to preserve the win.

Great games, these last two. I've been able to watch them as I read my bar review note cards, and I've been thoroughly entertained (minus that stupid "ping"... go wooden already!).

I've been able to watch them as I read my bar review note cards, and I've been thoroughly entertained (minus that stupid "ping"... go wooden already!). the cost is why college uses aluminum... if you listen though now, not every batter's bat will make the ping noise... composite bats (most of them with some amount of carbon fiber in them) make more of a thud noise.... I noticed this at a couple of games in person and I'd heard about it earlier in the season. It was a very noticeable difference. The college summer leagues (like the Cape Cod league) all use wood so scouts can see the top players batting with wood.

OSU has now won 5 consecutive elimination games in the CWS. I hope they can make it 6 tonight.

Just caught the last half inning or so...
OSU wins 3-2 and wins the national championship. Congrats to the Beavers.
