has anybody mentioned the BC game where Mike Frazier was fouled while scoring as time expired and then the 50% FT shooter made the shot from the stripe to send a game into overtime at BC -- GU won it going away after that, as the Eagles looked shocked from the end of regulation. That was one of the most fun early (HS age) memories I have of a Hoya game.

As someone who didn't really follow the Hoyas until I came here in 2002, I don't have the laundry list of great wins to remember. The ones I do remember and will probably always remember are -the OT game against Cuse and Carmelo when Sweets was 3 blocks and 3 assists from a quadruple double -my friend taking a pic of the scoreboard during halftime of the Pitt game last year when we were up by 8 pts (yeah I still blame him for the loss) -the first 11:20 of the Illinois game this year -the first 5 minutes of the Duke game last year -having to be talked out of swerving into oncoming traffic on the way to Florida last year during spring break after hearing that the team had lost to VT -the Hoyas game v. Minnesota in the NIT semis my freshman year when I was torn b/w my home state and my school. Now, it would be an easy choice (the Hoyas), then, one and a half semesters into college, it was the most painful game as I wanted them both to win.
I wish I had been able to experience the great games yall did where teh Hoyas actually prevailed, but I'm sure that JT3 will definately lead the Hoyas to many many more. So I'm going to add a game I didn't actually see to my list of favorite games- This year against Pitt, when I saw the final score in the ESPN ticker at a bar, had to wait for it to come around again b/c I didn't believe it, and then proceed to jump around screaming WE BEAT PITT, WE BEAT PITT while half the bar stared at me like I was insane.

Aggy, it didn't have anything to do with the game itself, but about some of the crowd. It had been a tradition, since 1962, when I arrived on campus as a freshman, and mainly in the New South cafeteria to have this particular student (I think he was a soph in '62) to stand up, spout off some gutteral nonsense (sounding like German) and everybody would reply "heil." I always thought it was a parody on the mindless acquiescence of the German crowd to Hitler. I am sure most people took it that way. And the same student would do it at bball games too. However, against NYU, it was perceived in the NY press as an anti-semetic act, since there were a lot of Jewish students at NYU. Since NYU lost badly, it was considered a taunt. But it was happening two or three years before the game and was not directed at NYU. It was never repeated after the game. I think people are hyper-sensitive at times... I remember when the Duke mascot wore an afro when they were playing Notre Dame back when they had David Rivers... A lot of Black folks found it racist...and knowing Duke's track record, it may have been... Didn't stop it from being funny as hell though...
