OK, foeva has 10 of 20 posts on the previous page, six of which came in a span of seven minutes. Can we take a slightly more common sense approach, foeva? Read the whole thread, and then post a complete thought.
As for Roy, he did look like he was busting his ass all game. Some of the time, especially late in the second half, I thought he was sufficiently open to get a touch, and there were several possessions where we totally missed the look. Hopefully, teams notice that we can beat them other ways and stop with the double and triple team poundings.
When it comes to player of the game, not that it matters, but I think while Roy might be the diversion that draws the defenses, a player like Summers who scores 18 needs to get due credit also.

Ultimately, the Hoyas succeed with a balanced attack. Roy is a key weapon in our arsenal, but he can't be the only one. With Jeff gone and no other clear superstar (yet), Roy is the easy target for an opposing team, and Gottfried's squad did a very good job of jamming Roy up in the middle. Roy was doing his best to get open and get the ball, but few opportunities presented themselves. Towards the end of the game, however, when the offense started to flow more properly and the rest of team started to hit some shots with consistency, Alabama had to spread their defense out, which opened up Roy for some passes and moves. In order for Roy to be most effective, the rest of the offense needs to be enough of a threat that Roy is not "the" option, but rather one of at least three and at best five options. That all said, Roy did seem a little off his game, and missed some layups and hook shots that he tends to make. I chalk that up to the general beating he received down low. Roy did draw a number of fouls in the process, and tended to hit many (though not most) of his foul shots. I don't think that Roy looked "soft" under the basket; rather, I think he recognized the fact that he was generally double and tripled teamed, and did his best to draw fouls and avoid costly turnovers. Just my two cents. This is about where I stand too. There's always the temptation for the crowd at a game to scream GIVE IT TO ROY!--and why not, he's the star after all--but teams are in fact focusing their defensive effort on Roy this year. I also think Alabama did an excellent job defending Roy from about the 10-12 minute of the first half until the final possession, and Fairfield did a better job than people gave them credit for. It's more than just GIVE THE BALL TO ROY!--the rest of the team has to hit their shots to keep the defense honest, and THEN (not just through brute force of feeding the ball inside at all costs) will the opportunities start to present themselves. Roy improved from the foul line last night and got quite a few attempts, so that's a positive. What I like most though about Roy's game the past two go-rounds is that the key offensive play in crunch time was set up by a Hibbert ASSIST from the post (Sapp's 3 last night and Rivers' +1 layup on the baseline against Fairfield). The post-game interview with the big guy said a lot too--he wants to get the other guys involved because he recognizes the defense is collapsing on him and trying to be physical. Sign of a great player, not just trying to do it one way, but getting it to the guy best positioned to make a play. Roy is a 7"2" true All-American and its very rare in college basketball...there are maybe 4 or 5 true centers in college basketball today. Yes,it more than "give Roy the ball" but give him the ball. It starts inside, out my fellow american.

I'd just like to point out that, assuming Roy maintains his current averages, doesn't get hurt and the Hoyas play the minimum number of games available to them (1 BET, 1 NIT/NCAA for 21 more games), he will finish in the top 15 in points per game, top ten in rebounds, top 4 in blocks. If he gets a few more games or his averages goes up, he could crack the top 5 in rebounds and top ten in points. Of all of the great Hoya big men, only Patrick and Alonzo could say the same thing.

I don't think that Hoyafoeva has made his position clear as to whether (1) Roy is a great player and (2) the rest of the team should get Roy the ball more often. It's like listening to the SportsGuys and their man-love for Mike Ditka.

all this being down on roy i dont understand. the only thing i can find fault in is his ft shooting. other than that i have no complaints. ITS EASY FOR AN ANNOUNCER TO SAY HE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT UP STRONG but look at the replay and he was tripled teamed, blocked by a teammate and too far under the rim. this is still the guy that dominated the #1 draft pick last year and would have been even more dominating if it hadnt been for the attention hound cheap foul calling valentine. the idiot robbed the sports world of what would have been an all time great match up imo.
roy is fine. the entire offense is struggling to find identity.

You win a free ticket to the Verizon center, I didn't say the game either, try Mickey D's at the Verizon. lol

roy just PLAY MEAN AND AGGRESSIVE love you man but that would put the icing on the cake so to speak go hoyas go seven footer remember hoyas hes seven foot you know He does play mean and aggressive....pls may I ask what games are you watching and what games have you've been to...pls...dives for loose ball, blocks shots, gives assists, scores buckets, dunks, alters opposing teams shots, okay, shall I go on? Are you noticing these things? Accept Roy for being Roy okay, he's doing all the right things every year and you still knock him, there's nothing you can say. Pls leave the young man alone and let him finish school. Roy is only like 20 if that, he's young and developed really quick because of his mean, aggressive hard work he puts in everyday, its called "work ethic"...I love this game...I love my Hoyas, I feel what you're saying, but gimme some feedback to what you're saying.

Zo was mean. Roy ain't. That's not a bad thing, he busts his ass and has improved more than ANY Hoya over four years, but I don't think we can say he's added "mean and aggressive" to his arsenal yet. If he was as mean and aggressive as you suggest, I doubt his TEAMMATES would have to tell him to "power up" Pokemon-style.

Hoyafoeva: for your information, lichoya68 is a Georgetown grad who is a board member of the Hoya Hoop Club; he has been a Hoya season ticket holder (pretty much since he graduated in the late 1960s) who attends every home game and many road games, and his comments are encouraging to Roy Hibbert, not 'knocking' as you make them out to be. There are few posters on this board who are more psoitive than he is. He, like everyone here, believes Roy is the best center in the country this year. Commenting on things Hibbert and the team can work on, improve, and do better is hardly 'knocking' him.

In the Georgetown-Jacksonville game, I have Georgetown: 243, Jacksonville 9. What if it's a team of mini-JTIII's? Eh, that'll be a closer one. I'll go Georgetown 147, Jacksonville 35.
