It's a long article about who Duke is recruiting in '09... On Hollis it basically says that a number of signs point to him being a "near done deal" to Georgetown, that he is "all but out of the picture" for Duke, and that to avoid another Monroe "fiasco", Coach K will look elsewhere for his '09 wing.
Also mentions Riley, says he might be another in "a long line of Georgetown leans"... nothing new really, citing the fact that Riley grew up a Hoya fan as we've heard. Still good though.
Also says that Duke is going to be looking at Vinson and Armwood from Montrose, both of whom the Hoyas are recruiting.

The staff likes Armwood. He just needs to continue to develop his game.

^^^Supposed to be a hell of an athlete. Would like to continue the trend of landing the area's best too. Thompson, Riley, Armwood would be a hell of a class, a frontcourt for years to come.

Lance Stephenson might get in there somehow also, but Lil Thompson, Riley, and Armwood would be 3 Mcdonalds AAs and another top 3 class.

I think we need to make it a yearly ritual to grab Coach K's top recruiting target.

If GU does not take any locals in 09, the 2010 class is loaded with top local kids that GU is already recruiting.

From the little I know about Lance, it would seem he's the kind of player that if he picks you're program, you make room to have him no matter what. Am I misguided there?

Don't forget that Hollis attends THE Jesuit high school in the country. That's right as a Loyola Cub I'm throwing down the gauntlet and claiming Loyola of Los Angeles is the premiere Jesuit high school in the country when academics, athletics, service, and extracurriculars are included. I know a bunch of you St. Joseph's, Jesuit, and Xavier alums will say otherwise, but I'm staking my claim as a proud alum. The only reason I even looked at Georgetown was because it was another Jesuit institution and I loved Loyola--after that obviously Georgetown sold itself. I don't know how much top flight athletic recruits put into these sort of issues in choosing colleges, but Loyola sends 5-10 students a year to GU, which is a good amount from one school in L.A., and every guy I know that graduates from Loyola, no matter how cool they seem or how big of an athlete they are (and we've had some big-timers), seems to have a great respect for the Jesuit tradition and message and has a strong connection back to Loyola. So I don't know if this lends itself to help Georgetown, but it doesn't hurt, I would think. However, I don't know Hollis at all or anything around the program, so I have no idea if the above actually does apply to him; I just haven't met a Cub who it hasn't applied to in some way.

I believe Lance is leaning UNC now. Heels can't get them all. Seriously if the BE allows another great guard from BE territory to go to Tar Heel nation I will shoot someone. Thank God Louisville joined the BE so at least via Pitino the conference kept PF Samardo Samuels from going to the ACC. If the Hoyas can't get Lance then hopefully Cuse, Uconn, Nova or one of the NY area schools will protect their darn territory! Or perhaps Pitino can ride in and save the conference from the #1 ACC raider of talent once again.

What about Gonzaga, here in DC, high school of none other than JTIII?

Word (very reliable) from Loyola High Cub land is that Coack JTIII and Coach K were both on Loyola campus within past couple of weeks for Hollis. It would be sweet to take another from Duke. Coach K must be having nightmares about JTIII right about now. I agree completely with dudeslade on the Jesuit tradition being a huge pull, and hopefully it will be here. Experiencing what a Jesuit education is all about in high school certainly made me (from a Northern Calie Jesuit school I'd dare say is even better than Loyola) and I'd say a huge cross section of my high school class - want to go to the best Jesuit university in the country. Hollis should be very comfortable at Georgetown. So hopefully the Cub will want to become a Hoya. At the least, a huge amount of respect is usually deservedly held by graduates of a Jesuit high for all Jesuit institutions.

Guess we miss out on him. Sure wish Georgetown was a Jesuit institution because we could use him.
