i think this thread should be deleted. in fact, al threads that go negative on current players should be deleted. merry xmas. If I were to concede Biggie McClain might still develop, would that ease the pain?

I am hopeful Henry will grow into his gangly body in another year. For now, 5-8 minutes of high energy on the defensive end is all we can ask for.

For now, 5-8 minutes of high energy on the defensive end is all we can ask for. while that might be "all we can ask for," i'm concerned that 5 minutes a game for the rest of the season will lead to HS going elsewhere -- you can see the frustration on the kid's face when he is out on the court right now.

Facial expressions aside,he really does have to get a better feel of the O and D before he gets any more minutes

I'd like for Henry to be further along too but he isn't. And, as has been stated, he's really young. Thankfully, Julian has made the leap that he has and is picking up a lot of the minutes that many of us thought would be Henry's this season. I'm glad that JV has picked it up so that Henry doesn't have to feel as much pressure or feel like he's not doing his job. I love the kid's energy and, because of that, I'm more than happy to wait for everything to click for him. I have no info but my impression is that Henry is working hard and just because he's not reaping the benefits yet doesn't mean he won't. Go Henry! Go Hoyas! Whup the Johnnies!

Will Braski,
I understand how you feel about Henry and the concern about transferring.
But coach's job isn't to hold his hand. His job is to put us in the best position, to give our team the best chance of winning ballgames.
Giving Henry minutes doesn't give us the best chance at winning ballgames. Period.
If it were my rotation, Henry would be the fourth big off the bench behind Jerelle. At some point a kid has to take ownership and "get it,". And the fact is, Henry hasn't improved in one tangible area from last season. In fact, there are several area's where he's worse.
You have to turn potential into production at some point. Henry hasn't. It's time for him to pee or get off the pot.

daytona -
I agree completely. I am not directly advocating for increased minutes for Henry. I am just expressing a concern, perhaps unfounded, that he may look to go elsewhere after this season if his minutes/understanding of the "system" do not improve. He undoubtedly has a lot of talent and we will definitely need him next year minus GM, so I hope that he has the fortitude to stick with it and work on his game AT georgetown.

i don't know, i just watch the games. i don't sit down with calculators. the game tape doesn't lie. Julian's ability this year is not a shock. Sometimes perception is reality. Julian was not perceived to be a great player coming here. Henry was. Hence, why the majority of the board feel a certain way about Henry and they feel a certain way about Julian. Throw out the extraneous stuff. Focus on what matters. How do guys play....on the court, regardless of stars or scouting services accolades. Julian doing what he is capable of doing based on the skillset he has displayed on the court his entire time here at G-town. Henry is doing what he is capable of doing based on the skillset he has displayed on the court his entire time here at G-town. If folks are surprised, then that is understandable. Perception is sometimes reality for some. Wasn't there an entire article written early this season about how Julian CHANGED his game in the offseason to be what coach needed him to be? (I know I don't have a link...anyone know where that was?) That, to me, implies that he developed other skillsets instead of flourishing in those he already had. And I think "Perception is sometimes reality" is as applicable to your side of the argument as it is to ours, as opposed to the current implication that we're all out of touch with reality. I'm sure we could find posts you guys made about what you saw in Vaughn, so don't worry about quoting them. I just don't think it's empirical fact that Vaughn's play isn't shocking. Then again, sometimes some people only see some things in someone when some others see things somewhat differently. Some.

I dont care which poster with 3000 or 10000 posts gets upset at these comments but Sims cannot take the court anymore im sorry. Sims absoultely killed us today with his non existant defense. There was bench warmers blowing by him for dunks!! When he was in the game they just took it right to him, he was a huge liabitliy out there!!!
Im happy hes upbeat and a "good guy" . Yeah I was happy to see him standing up on the bench and rooting his team on all very positive, and I know theres nothing he wants to do more than to get in there and be one of the guys but its just not happening.
In my opinion Sims not developing and the total lack of bench production is going to be the sole reason why this team doesnt reach its full potential!! Once again Im sorry if these comments offends anyone but it is what it is, he should only play in blowouts and thats that.

IT'S TIME TO GIVE JERELLE A FEW MINUTES, WE CAN'T BE LOSING ANYTHING MORE THAN WHEN HENRY IS OUT THERE

I know we are all frustrated with his lack of progress but I think it will come. He can pass, hustles and has good hands. He is fundamentally unsound in defense but even that has improved a little. Forget the highlight blocks. He gives up the baseline too much, stands tall back on his heels, and is tentative in the match up or man to man. We better pray he slowly improves because without a better bench we are an 8 and 8 BE team.

i think that hs needs to focus on one play at a time. on defense, instead of looking like a tree on the perimeter, get in a stance and show some intensity. on offense, focus on making a clean pass and protecting the ball. i still believe he has the height/athletic ability to play in this league. for whatever reason, his mental state shows otherwise.

Ahoya,
There is no way this team loses eight conference games. Even without a bench.
Go ahead. Look at the schedule. Think worse case scenario. And try to pick out eight losses.
Won't happen
