The only positive is learning that we are better with Ezewiro than Wahab.

If people can't see the pattern by now they never will. There was one major difference tonight and it was in coaching. And that also translates into the confidence of the players - you can see it, even when the game is close.

The press was a disaster. Easily broken with one/two passes.
Can't we just focus on playing solid half court D? We now have two shot-blocking bigs who can swallow up guys driving to the basket.
If we are behind and you want to pick up the pace then I can see a press, but otherwise it just leads to wide open 3s for the other team.
More broadly, I also don't think presses are that effective anymore. These days teams have so many good ball-handlers, and will kill you with open 3s.

First time at Kenner this weekend. I was really impressed with all 3 transfer guards: Murray, Spears, and Heath. Those look like 3 starters to me and a significant upgrade, especially in end of game, tight situations. All 3 of them can create their own shot or create for others off the bounce. And they seem to be good defenders on top of it, obviously an area where we have been abysmal.

I would like to see what their toughness would yield with a new coach who can put them in a position to win.

The crowds will be embarrassingly bad next year. Why does it have to come to that for the admin to make the obvious move?

Can't sit by and let the displeasure of the vast majority of the fanbase be mischaracterized as a few unhappy posters. I posted this prior and will say it again - of all the alums I know who are fans, not one of them think it's a good idea to keep Ewing. To state it plainly, they all see what a disaster he is. CapOne will be a ghost town next year. You can only fool people for so long.

Watching the tourney is depressing - makes you realize how far away we are from this level in every way, especially coaching.

0-20, no conference winning record in 7 years, one NCAA tourney win in 10 years.
You really can't get much worse than that....I say let's take our chances.

Extending Ewing with guaranteed money after a pretty fortunate 4 day stretch - e.g. Gillespie out, avoiding UCONN - is beyond silly. Extend him, fine, but don't increase the buyout or guaranteed money in any meaningful way.
And don't forget the extension must have come after we were absolutely pounded - embarrassed really - in the NCAA tourney. I mean that was a joke from the tip. And likely after Wahab had announced that he was transferring.
At that point, even before this debacle of a season, Ewing still hadn't had a winning record in conference and had shown a disturbing inability to retain players.

This post is spot on, and frankly writes itself. But good on someone to actually write it up in detail. People want to quibble with some of Retired Hoya's statements - that's fine, I don't agree with everything he's saying. But the gist of it is almost irrefutable. Whether you call it corruption, dysfunction, or just truly horrendous and scared decision-making on the part of the administration. The end result is the same: we are a disgrace of a program right now.
And I don't blame him for his anonymity in the least, because he would probably have some crazies coming after him.

The biggest problem that actual, real fans face now is that that any minor success we might have next year pushes our only hope - a capable coach - out further into the distance.

It's painful watching the Big East tourney final knowing that our administration has completely punted on being competitive at that level.

I can't wait to see how many cupcakes they pad our non-conference schedule with next year!

This is really a joke! Again the only way to explain this is that you are looking at a completely dysfunctional organization.

Would any other Division 1 program (or frankly D2 or D3) retain a coach who went 0-20 in conference play in his 5th year, and who has also never won an NCAA tourney game or had a winning record in conference?
We all know the answer is no.

I guess people are immune to it because they're used to it. If a third party neutral reads that they're like what the heck is going on at Gtown!?!

I don't blame the author for staying anonymous in this case, probably fears some type of repercussion. I don't see how that weakens the argument. What I valued from that article is that it put the whole thing together on the timeline. Few so-called journalists have had the guts to do it.

In that case you must be a Thompson because there's no way to refute anything substantive that he's saying. Name one thing incorrect in that post. Maybe a little overboard defending Esherick, who I also was happy to see go. But the idea that Ronny subverted Esh and that JT3 won with Esh recruits - all true.
But that misses the wider point.
