Princeton 53-Rutgers 40
At Princeton though and when Rutgers leaves the RAC they are usually very questionable at best.
St. John's 75- Virginia Tech 65
This game was at St. John's and Im very surprised by the outcome. VaTech may not be very good, but I kinda thought St. Johns might not beat a major conference team all season.

To your first point, the combination of this and the PSU game make me feel a little better about our chances to sweep Rutgers this year (again, not expecting the sweep, but feeling pretty decent about the chances). Hey, if they lost by 13 to III's old team, I imagine we'll have a decent sense of his system by about 14 games into the season...
To the secon, good riddance to the Hokies, and here's a boot in the rear from the Johnnies to remind you none of us liked you anyway!
And to your third point (actually, you didn't make this point, but I will), how about Seton Hall just barely squeaking by St. Francis (NY) --- at home!!?

Rebounding, defense, and discipline -- the Tigers held Rutgers to 33.3% from the field (and only 20% in the second half), and outrebounded the Scarlet Knights, despite the fact that Princeton had two starting forwards out of the lineup due to injuries!

Yeah, I forgot to mention the Seton Hall game against the same St. Francis team that beat the Johnnies by 1 (53-52 I think)on the night that Alumni Hall was rededicated as Carnessecca Arena.
I don't know whether St. Francis is actually decent, or The Hall and SJU are just horrible. I thought it was just that St. Johns was an absolutely terrible team (not that they aren't) but after tonights 10 pt win over the Hokies (even though they aren't exactly a basketball powerhouse) I dont know what to think. Maybe its just that SJU, Seton Hall, and VaTech all really suck, and maybe St. Francis is playing well. But either way, its only a few games in and we wont get a real bearing of the situation until some more games have been played.
I'm still surprised St. John's was able to beat a major conference team this year though.

They haven't beaten anyone good so their 4-1 record was just a joke pretty much. This kind of stuff is really gonna bring up the level of play in the ACC, haha. Miami and VaTech are the first things that come to my mind when I think ACC basketball ;D.

Do not be surprised by anything that Princeton does this season. We all know that coaching is a huge part of the winning in college, and Joe Scott did an outstanding job at Air Force last season. He returned to his alma mater after we got JT III, and is running the same system they have been successful with year in and year out.

Also, one of the things JT3 mentioned when he came to GU was that the decision was made even more difficult by the fact that he thought this Princeton team was going to be very good this year, and that it was tough leaving a situation like that.

Not surprised by the Princeton-Rutgers score. Don't read anything into that as far as our prospects in the Big East. JTIII realized when practice started that he had left behind much better talent at Princeton.

Well, I'm a Princeton alumnus in DC, and I've seen Georgetown's Temple and Penn State games and watched Rutgers-Princeton last night on TV. I can tell you that Georgetown should beat Rutgers twice. Rutgers is bad. They kept trying to make individual plays against the Princeton zone. They were unwilling or unable to pass the ball when double-teamed and were outrebounded by Princeton which is not nearly as good a rebounding team as the Hoyas. Princeton should have won by at least 20. The game stayed close only because Princeton was too reliant on threes and did not hit many of them until late.

Not surprised by the Princeton-Rutgers score. Don't read anything into that as far as our prospects in the Big East. JTIII realized when practice started that he had left behind much better talent at Princeton. Princeton has a more experienced team who is more familiar with the system that they play. But if the Princeton players took the place of the Gtown players you would see how far less talented they are when they started playing regularly in the Big East. Just because a team is more successful does not make them more talented. The summer Olympics basketball results is proof of that.

I somewhat agree and somewhat disagree with both of you. I think Princeton probably has a better outlook for this year (due to experience in the system, and some honestly talented players), but in a streetball game, or after G'town has a couple of years of the III-offense under their belt, then I think this group of G'town players would be in better shape than Princeton.
I would say outlook for the year, rather than talent or experience.
