Sean williams and Taurean Green are 104 and 105... Guess who is 107? Makes you really wonder about these lists... more important that coaches evaluate talent and get the players that fit the team.

Also proves it's more important what you do with kids once you get them and that you better target guys who are hungry and have team oriented goals as well as individual goals.

It's telling that 99% of recruiting service articles never mention someone's work ethic or coachability.
Yes, it is hard to judge, but most "gurus" ignore it completely, even when it is staring them in the face. This year's example is OJ Mayo.

That's interesting, but I read it differently. If you look at the top 50, almost every single one of them is now playing in the NBA or going to be in the NBA. So in fact Rivals is spot on for the top 50. After that, it's a crapshoot. Moral of the story: get Rivals top 50 players!

Dhall, there's about thirty players in the Rivals Top 50 that aren't and never will play in the NBA...
Of 37 and on down, only Josh Shipp has any shot. Of the previous 36, about half aren't in and will never sniff the NBA.
Still, Rivals is pretty good at getting the best of the best right, but who isn't? And do those really help their college team? (Or pro team? Sebastian Telfair has contributed as much to the NBA as me).
For example, eight of the top ten are in the NBA.
Six never made it to college. Of the remaining two, their tenure with their college team got their coach fired (Randolph) and was part of the most disappointing team in recent years (Gay).
My team of people outside the Top 100, trying not to be too Georgetown-centric
Taurean Green Chris Lofton Derrick Low Jeff Green Roy Hibbert

Don't forget Jon Wallace. He's easily one of the actual Top 100 players in that high school class, even if his pro prospects in this country are dim.

Shouldn't Noah be in there also?? Noah was 76. Locker, I love Jon, but I was trying not to list the entire Hoya lineup. There are a ton of good guards not listed; the big men tend to get rated higher.

Hindsight is 20/20...
Its VERY easy to go BACK and look at these lists and question some of the rankings but at that point in time these lists are VERY accurate. Nobody on the HS scene knew who Jeff Green was until he played for Team Assault and got that exposure. In face many thought he would prep for a year. Roy Hibbert probably played one seasons worth of HS games during his HS career because he was always injured. They are ranked based on High School/AAU...nobody has a time machine and can predict the future.
46 Gabriel Pruitt Compton (CA) Westchester
is about to be a first round draft pick this year
50 Bryce Taylor Encino (CA) Harvard-westlake School
will be drafted whenever he comes out
As for the previous 36...please show me the half that arent in and will never sniff the NBA.
No he isnt...

AJ Price didn't even start every game on last year's crappy UConn team. He shot 38% and only played 24 mpg.
DJ White is a 6'6" PF with no real jumping ability.
Ron Steele is a 6' PG who wanted to jump but was told not to.
Juan Palacios has gotten worse every season he's played. You realized he lost his starting job, right?
Jason Rich?
Sasha Kaun might, but only in that he's tall. I doubt he actually plays.
Nelson might get the Duke bump, but really, he did absolutely nothing last year. Why would anyone draft him as an undersized NBA two? He can't play the point.
Also, Bryce Taylor as an NBA player...I'll believe it when I see it.
Your prediction of them playing in the NBA is entirely based on recruiting rankings.

He's just another UConn "Summer SuperStar" and I'll let MCI explain that one if you don't already know. Nelson? If he trains with the Green Berets, Rangers, NAVY Seals, The 8th Street Assassins, the Blue Dragons, The Warriors, the Baseball Furies, he might improve some more and give Doris Burke more material for the entire season, but I still don't see him as an NBA player.

I love this comment. Actually, that is EXACTLY what recruiting services claim to do. Rivals openly claims that their rankings are based on what kind of player the person will be in 3-4 years, looking at the NBA specifically.

Agree with some of what you said--but Steele and Palacios have potential to improve and get a look--and White is 6'8 and not great, but he'll get a look too--don't think he'll make it but compared to some of the garbage like AJ Price on that list, these guys look like sure things. There is a better chance of AJ Price working security at Best Buy then making the NBA.

Your prediction of them playing in the NBA is entirely based on recruiting rankings. AJ Price also just finished his sophmore season (his first playing). So he has two more years to get there. He averaged 9 points and 4 assists. He also happens to go to a school that has a knack for putting guys in the league. If Kevin Ollie is in the NBA...AJ Price will be too. DJ White is 6'8...and he will play in the NBA...whether it be a first round pick, second round pick, or undrafted free agent. He will play in the NBA. Ron Steele is not as good as what people thought he was a year ago...but that doesnt mean that he won't plat AT ALL in the NBA. Juan Palacios hasnt gotten "worst"...he lost a step after that foot injury but he will at some point play in the NBA. Jason Rich is a long shot but unless he bombs next year he will be a possible draft pick Sasha Kaun will play in the league...no need to explain why. Everyone knows he's going to regardless. DeMarcus Nelson did absolutely nothing last year but lead the team in scoring and come in 2nd in rebounding. He also happens to be a standout athlete and just happens to go to Duke....do you seriously believe he won't play in the NBA? Not that this means anything but find me one 08 mock with Bryce Taylor not on it. And no...my prediction of them playing in the NBA is not entirely based on recruiting rankings...sorry.

DeMarcus Nelson is a long ways away from the NBA--he's 6'3 tops, isn't a good ball handler, and is inconsistent in his shot. He disappears from games and there isn't much need for 6'3 Shooting guards in NBA unless they are big time scorers--not leading scorers on bad Duke teams.
Where are El Amin and Taliek Brown if all Uconn guys go to the league? AJ Price isn't even the best guard prospect on his own team--and he should be going into his SR year now-remember he had the head trauma his FR season, then the stolen computer fiasco, then he played last year--so it's not like he's some young up and comer--he's a legend of the Uconn Summer Hype Machine and is a far away from being an NBA prospect.

Actually, AJ Price won't be working security at Best Buy. He'll probably be selling computers there.
