Big up. 3 first teamers including the player of the year is SICK.
Jason is the only first-teamer that's not a senior. Have to think he's the definite favorite to be POY next year.

I have a problem with this. Austin missed a bunch of games early, and Chris's numbers were better. If you consider which guy did more with less support, Chris probably runs away with the award. Just another example of EVERY other school struggling to get DeMatha's recognition.

I really like how we can make cogent arguments about how one of our recruits got 'snubbed' for POY by another one of our recruits. We are so back, baby!

Austin didn't miss a "bunch" of games. Just a few early on. And I do not think any of them were WCAC games and therefore none of those games had any bearing on WCAC play.
Secondly when DeMatha played St John's, Austin arguably ended up looking like the best player on the floor for at least 2 of those 3 contests.
Next Austin is easily the most efficient player of the two and he doesn't have to score as much for his team to win. If you're going to say Wright deserves it over him you might as well as say that Nichols of Syracuse deserved the BE Player of the Year award over Jeff.

How about Coach Wake from Fairmont Heights being Coach of the Year! Congratz to him and the Hornets on a fine season. I care because that is my alma mater! He is truly an icon. He also cut me when I tried out for the team way back in '86. Damn, I feel old now.

What's really interesting is that George Mason has two first team all-Met commitments and Maryland only has one. As MoCo and PG keep on increasing their percentage of population, this really can't be good for UMCP (notably, three players from Maryland schools are headed to Pitt, WVU, and Hampton). And - www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/sports/hssports/longterm/allmets/winter07/girls_basketball.html - woo hoo! - we're getting an all-Met for the women's team! I really want to care about them. Help me out.

Hopefully they both have Jeff's attitude towards individual awards, too.

"best player in school history" "first three-time all-Met since A.D."
...these are some pretty heady kudos.
No offense to Jon or Jesse, both of whom I expect to start next year, but....
....this backcourt of the future needs a nickname now!
Get to work, Hoya fans.

not quite.
Actually, only "considered one of the best players in school history"
others, IMO, include Sid Catlett, Kenny Carr, AD, Bernie Williams , JB
