Seriously--I think Goode is on to something.
What are the students doing to pressure DeGioia? Hoya Blue, where is that petition? Where are the banners? How about the sit in Goode describes? At least a rally? If and when you read that JTIII has taken another job it will be too late. Be proactive--put the pressure on the University NOW.

Color me unconvinced. I just don't really see III as an NBA coach. His system works extraordinarily well when players a) buy into it, b) share the ball, c) work their tails off, & d) stick around long enough to reap the rewards. What I just described is the anti-NBA. It would be a huge adjustment and would quite likely end up in some sort of messy divorce.
As for other top tier college jobs, yes. It is a big deal and the risk of III leaving is certainly worth considering.

I'm not so sure that it's that much of a stretch. The Wiz already run a version of this offense under Eddie Jordan, and I think the team's 105 PPG is evidence that it works pretty well. Pete Carril's time spent with Sacramento also shows that the offense is transferable to the NBA.
Luckily, I can't imagine that the Wiz are looking to get rid of Eddie Jordan any time soon. This team is going to the playoffs for the third year in row, and that has not happened in a LONG time, and before the team was hit by the injury bug, they were at the top of the Eastern Conference.

I don't think III would enjoy it as much, but certainly don't discount it- III is so talented and smart, he could coach anything.

III could coach at any level from biddy basketball to the NBA and succeed. I'd love to see him get a crack at the Olympic team someday.

Goode puts forth a good argument, and the students must do everything they can to pressure DeGoia. If the doomsday scenario involving Freeman to UMCP doesn't convince people to riot, I don't know what will.

With Caron Butler and Gilbert Arenas out for the year, I'm not sure the Wizards will even make the playoffs.
And, with his wife's situation, don't think III would want to take on the travel associated with the NBA.

While not exactly palatable, people should keep an open mind to the possibility that the scenario of JT3 leaving will not exactly mean doom and disaster for the program. We have good players, and based on our reputation, any capable coach should be able to recruit and direct a winning team. It's not like any potential replacement would usher in another Esherick-like era of substandard performance. JT3 is clearly a good coach, and a valuable asset for the program, but the idea of students holding protests so he can get paid more than the ~ $500,000+ he earns a year is a little ridiculous. This isn't a social justice issue.

This isn't a social justice issue. And why should "social justice" be the only protest-worthy issue? Call me callous if you want, but my bet is that a whole lot more students care about keeping JTIII than cared about the "living wage" hunger strike. "Georgetown solidarity," as far as I'm concerned, is evidenced more by the sea of gray at the Verizon center this winter than by a few wannabe hippies living in a tent in red square. There, I said it. That said, though, the living wage protests provide a great example to the students: if DeGioia caves in to 10 students not taking showers for 20 days, there's no way he could resist hundreds in a JTIII protest. Get to it!

Seriously Hoya Blue, where are you?
What are you doing to make sure III stays?
I know you have Easter Break, but when you get back this has to be a HUGE PRIORITY. Much more important than finals, or GUSA Elections or anything like that. Save our Coach!!!

or GUSA Elections or anything like that. Save our Coach!!! Haha...great joke...even including GUSA elections as something that might be remotely important to the campus! Good laugh!
