With this win they will most likely take over the #1 ranking next week with only a matchup at home against Chicago State before they come to DC.

there is a possibility for a split number 1 in the upcoming weeks polls, as Kansas has been splitting number one votes with Wake, I think that they may get a few of Wakes votes. I still do think that Illinois will probably be number one though, i think it will be close however.

I don't know, after doing what they did to Gonzaga and Wake it would be hard to believe if the Illini weren't given the #1 ranking. They also have more wins overall then Kansas.

Arkansas gave them a pretty good game. They seemed to stifle Illinois with a type of match-up zone defense. Illinois obviously has a very fast motion offense with a LOT of cuts and screening away from the ball, so this man-to-man defense with Arkansas players switching when they get screened allowed them to match-up with the guys on the perimeter without having to run through screens to keep up with them. It will be interesting to see if we try to do the same thing against them. I'm not sure if we can afford to switch when it comes to their guards vs. our guards, but hey, whatever we play they're going to get open looks. We also got to hope that they miss shots as they did against Arkansas. Even though I fear the worst, I'm excited to go and see our effort against Illinois on Thursday, especially after seeing Arkansas play them tight.

The $64k question is what kind of help JTIII can (and will) get from Ronny. Arkansas looked to have hit on a few things that work against Illinois, so I'd hope III will get a nice early Xmas present from his little brother.

Yeah ....... considering what happened to Wake, there's no shame in what Arkansas was able to hold the "REO Speedwagon" to for a score in that game.

Latest AP poll is out, Illini are #1 for the first time since the days of Anderson, Battle, Gill, Bardo, and Liberty. Buckle up. sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=1939789Also, congrats to GW on a well-deserved return to the rankings, first time since 1998. Given the quality of their wins, I would argue for higher.
