Oh, what's new? Mushnick has had it in for Thompson forever. To bring up JT's name again for this little ridiculous article of his shows you how lacking he is these days wih new bags of tricks.
Of course interesting enough Thompson, while being disappointed for Ty, has taken up for Notre Dame and has publicly disagreed on his own show with the BCA's approach to dealing with Ty's firing. Bit of course a dude who writes for a rag like the NY Post wouldn't know jack.

hey! stop knocking the Post! Most entertaining paper in the country! I used to know one of the guys who wrote the big upfront headlines and came up with appellations for people such as "portly pepperpot" and "Jacko the wacko". Hilarious guy. Now the Daily News? THAT's a rag!
Seriously, though, Mushnick is not only a killjoy, he also refuses to ever notice any nuances. In his world, Nike = bad; JT = Nike; Therefore, JT = bad, and Georgetown = bad.
You can see that with a lot of Mushnick's stuff. Even when i agree with his main point, I can't stomach the guy, because he's self-righteous to the point of wanting to strip away every bit of fun in any sport. Even on this particular issue, I agree with a lot of what he says about Willingham's treatment (although his point about the BCA and Thompson are simplistic and not even correct, in some cases, as MCI pointed out). But he's just such a weenie, that it's hard to say i agree with the guy, even when I do.

Hey, Saxa, stop knocking the NY Daily News. My father worked there for about 30 years (assistant ad director), so they paid my way to GU. The headlines in the News were also better than the Post's anyway, when my father was working there. Also, the DN remained George Costanza's main reason for living.

It's interesting that in a sport that is dominated in numbers by African American athletes, it doesn't bother anyone white that only 2 of the major Div. I coaches are Black...Outside of the HBCU's, there are no Div. I-AA coaches... Most of the coaches that he listed in the artical have had international players, but I'm willing to bet that they've had an overwhelming amount of inner city players compared to the guys they've had from Europe and Africa... But Black people shouldn't march or get all in an uproar about this now...they should do now what they should have been doing from the beginning...if you can't treat me or people that look like me right, then I don't need to be at your school...

the difference between black and white coaches is second chances. Just look at Art Shell in the NFL who was a solid coach w/ the Raiders, but never got another opportunity as a head coach vs. Norv Turner who was marginal at best in Washington and after a couple years got the job with the Raiders where he is enjoying little success.

Norv was coach of the 'skins for 7 season, which with the win or die attitude of the NFL these days, is a minor milestone I'd say.
