I know this might be a bit far for some, but there are still reasonable rooms in Athens. It is a good hour and a half drive, but it is a pretty cool town. I am staying there because the Gator Baseball team is playing the Dawgs that weekend. I get two for one. I will have to miss Saturday's baseball game though. There are few things I value more than Gator baseball, but Gator Basketball postseason makes the list.

Seriously though, anyone who wants a nice middle level or upper middle level hotel at a reasonable price, Athens is a good option.

As for transpo to the dome, I agree with Tiger. The Marta works rather efficiently. It does make tailgatoring a bit more difficult, but if you are just going to hit concessions etc... then I would park and ride the Marta.

i sat in the distant view last year at the RCA dome in Indy and those seats were TERRIBLE. granted i was virtually in the endzone on the opposite side of hte court. however, that game had about 45k people and i have heard that the georgia dome is going to hold close to 65 for a basketball game. that would be a disaster in those distant view seats. i spent most of hte game last year watching the game on the jumbotron as i could only really see what was happening on one side of the court.

i bit the bullet at my wifes insistance and got two land packages for me and son the marriott courtyard in windy hil about ten miles from the dome had cancllable till six am not a four nite minimun for 169 per nite about ten miles away and no four nite deal adn could cancel if we lose soooo they are out there i just cancelled mine reservations there for the special experience i was promised in atlanta hope the seats are better i did look at stub hub club level 700 each at the baseline hope gus are better than that which i coulda done with a much cheapre hotel which was not rpre paid best of luck to all in this journey gohoyas beat ohio state and EAT THE BANANNA

Don't know where the no beer thing was mentioned from a NCAA FAQ but figured this was a good place for me to go crap.... I know people who love going to Falcons games or the now Peach Bowl just because of the normal liquor drink sales on all concourses. Damn NCAA.
