Maybe I'm crazy, but considering the history there, I feel like this is a well-written, compelling piece. I got tired of reading the same old father/son Thompson/Ewing stuff that ran in every paper everywhere today--this dug a little bit deeper. Yes, he got some minor things wrong and yes, he still clearly has some hard feelings toward Big John. But considering where this was coming from I am pleasantly surprised. Maybe some of you aren't willing to lower the bar for somebody who has the kind of history Feinstein does with the program. But I feel like the simple fact that he devoted all of this attention and that he had some clearly complementary things to say basically indicates what an incredible season this has been, and how so many doubters and second-guessers, and former enemies now have to reckon with Gtown being good again and doing things his way.
As far as the Big John comments--what did he really say that was totally egregious? I've heard many people on this board talk about how JT was never the same energy-wise after the 1988 Olympics. Others have mentioned Esh recruiting Green and Hibbert. Still others have been critical of the hyper-paranoia of those days and love that we are now winning with a team that no one couldn't love.
I'll take it.

Agreed. Other than the mentioned gaffes that will be missed by all but the true Hoya faithful, I thought that was a good piece. But those gaffes have been used repeatedly to put down the program, even though he must know them to be false. Sure the typical fan won't know, but it's irresponsible journalism on his part regardless.

I agree with Big Dog. I was expecting something a little more angry. I think if you were an uneducated fan who picked this up and read it without knowing the history between the writer and the subject, you wouldn't think it was one-sided at all.
Very interesting that he couldn't just write a GEORGETOWN article. I mean, the article was ALL about us and our run and our history, yet his headline is "Storylines enhance Final Four." He takes two paragraphs at the the start to talk about Florida and then one at the end. And this "CBS must be happy" stuff just seems forced. Like he didn't want to write just a Georgetown article, but he sort of did.

only issue i had with the article is saying that Esherick recruited Wallace which im sure feinstein knows to be false. he clearly just added Wallace's name in there to strengthen his argument, knowing that the average reader wouldnt necessarily know the facts.

Well said, Big Dog. I thought the same thing reading it. And boston, I agree that it added some depth to our story to those who may not know Gtown history as well as we do.
The only thing I'll distinguish is this: did anyone else get the feeling =BUM was trying a little of the old not-so-subtle slap to the face by calling JT II "Old John?"

Since when was Ewing Sr 6-10, and was'nt Duke the last team to win back to back titles, not UCLA, I dont know sometimes he seems to write whatever when it comes to us. AND no I cant lower the bar, I'm to paranoid to do that. LOL

I'm assuming the article was revised since it now says:
"He left a semi-empty cupboard and by the time Esherick began to refill it five years later by recruiting the three juniors who are the heart of this team -- Jeff Green, Roy Hibbert and Jonathan Wallace -- his job was in serious jeopardy. In 2004, the Hoyas finished 12th in the Big East, meaning they just barely qualified for the conference tournament."

I don't really have an issue with this. He's already throwing our name out there for preseason #1. I think it's pretty not-so-bad.
If he changed his article, maybe this is evidence that he reads the board? I hope... THE BUM

I wonder if it is online only because whatever he came up with last night was such garbage that the powers that be at the Post knew they couldn't print it.
