not sure what you said and im not sure you know either. the most intelligent thing you said was the reference to my sister. but i think you are saying that our drop off in shooting % can be explained by the strength of our opponent. thats simply not right. you need look no further than sapp whos 3pfg% was over 40% prior to 2/21 and he is now 1-26 (excluding belmont) since. thats a whopping 4%. similar, tho thankfully not as drastic, declines can be seen in green and summers. and your explanation regarding having to face "tough zone" is ackbasswards as its easier to shoot 3s against zones as you get more open looks. if we shot well, teams would stop playing zone against us. then we could backdoor them to death. if you noticed, the number of backdoor buckets has fallen dramatically over the season as teams have adjusted. if anything, you could say we shoot 3s better vs man than we do versus zone. maybe it has something to do with the rythm of shooting against man that makes us better shooters. the stats i believe combine 2pfg% and 3pfg%. the concern is with perimeter shooting and not scoring in the paint. as a result these stats understate the dropoff as we have been scoring consistently in the paint. I mean if you're going to throw a fit and fall in it, at least use more than just one selective stat. Yes, Jessie Sapp has only his 4% of his 26 3pt attempts over 7 of the last 8 games (an average of less than 4 shots per game, mind you). But, if you include Belmont and exclude Syracuse, he is shooting 16% over 7 of his last 8 games, still well below 40% but a far cry from 4%. All BubbRubb was saying is that Pitt, Syracuse, UConn, Villanova, Notre Dame, Pitt, Belmont, & BC are, as a whole, far better teams than Rutgers, Seton Hall, DePaul, Cincy, St John's, Louisville, Marquette, & Villanova. Any argument there? Yes. Its like hertz, not exactly. That was not "all" he was saying. If you read closely I think he was saying that the stength of opponent was the reason for the drop off in our 3pfg%. Any argument there? My point is that sapp, green and summers going from +40% to sub 25% (as low as 4%) cannot be all explained due to strength of opponent. If that's the case then we should be worried as I see some strong opponents remaining in the tourney and we shouldn't attempt any 3s from here on out. There's another reason but I don't know what it is. Sapp himself said it was because he has been rushing his shot. Also if I'm observing a dropoff in 3pfg%, how is citing actual 3pfg% being unfairly selective using just one selective stat? What other stat should I use?

Apologize for the clutter if this was posted a couple of weeks ago, but I just wanted to remind everyone of what happens when we play a good team. And if the complier of this is on the Board, you are a genius. The JWall sound effects are excellent. The more I think about it, the more I am sure that we mentally destroyed Pitt in that game. It reminds me of the Seton Hall meltdown we precipitated back in 1999(?). They were top 10, close if not undefeated...and they ended up getting blown out, fighting each other in the locker room and losing the next 10 games. I think we did the same thing to Pitt, we broke something in their heads.

In my amateur opinion, there is only one thing that can beat us. Just ONE. If Roy and/or Jeff get into foul trouble, then we are in trouble. Otherwise, we will be fine. We beat Notre Dame when they were unable to miss anything for long stretches.
I am sure that they have been spoken to about this ad nauseum by the coaching staff.

I just hope our fans are noisy and make their presence felt. This should be the next closest thing to home court advantage outside of the Phone Booth or McDonough.

OK, finally got around to posting my rambling and not very informative take. Here's a teaser: Hope to get some replies like the one "HoyaFan" who rightly took me to task for an earlier post about conference strength.

Will be interesting to see the crowd tonight. Seems like GU and UNC will have the largest delegations in the building, but I imagine most of the neutral fans (and particularly the UNC fans) will be pulling for Vandy against us.

Philip I fully expect you to try to take away our inside game and make us win it from outside. That's where the battle will be fought and decided. Note that good defences have tried to do that all year and we have managed to be the #1/2 most efficient offenses in the country so I imagine its easier strategerized than done. We will have to play lock down d on your shooters and either have to be hot from the outside or able to overcome your attempt to take away our inside game. Green is a big matchup problem for you and hopefully he plays well. Should be a great game if yesterdays action is an indication.

It's tough to get a real homecourt feel in the tournament. With the four different teams , the Rutgers people getting tickets and giving tickets to sponsors and other folks its hard.
However, we will own the USC section for sure...

You know you wish you could be Lionel Ritchie. Hello...is it you I'm looking for........... Actually, it's "Hello...is it me you're looking for". And it's stipulated by law that you have to say that line while talking into a phone and looking into the distance. Drums, you're as dumb as a brick house. ;D
