I say one at a time, it's what got us here. Focus on Belmont, not on who comes after. Check me on this; the team is going to play the game, not us, right? It's okay if we look ahead? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

They think they're playing Georgetown College in Kentucky.

The black kid in the front is the only who saw who they had to play.

Chances are we are going to play Thursday afternoon. Since UNC is in the same arena as us, they will probably get one of the two night slots with the other night slot going to the 8/9 game...

I would guess JT3 will hire an extra person or two for the tournament who can start scouting likely opponents to learn their flaws and weaknesses (and strengths) so he and the main staff can largely focus on the next opponent knowing someone extra is researching/studying for later games. There's a small chance a few students reading the boards could influence the players a bit to look ahead too much, but I don't think our posts will effect the flow of it all that much, and I assume JT3 is on it getting the focus down.

Don't sleep on Belmont. They are good shooters; won more than 20 games; and will be playing a virtual home game. One step at a time. Next game is most important. I am sleeping on Belmont. Quite comfy.

Given what I witnessed last night, the day after a heart-pounding win over ND, I would be surprised if this team is not focused on the task at hand and opponent on Thursday.

No Ewings or Iversons as famous alums, however they do have @ least one alum whom your 12 y/o daughter might know
Belmont Alumna Advances to Top 12 on American Idol Melinda Doolittle, a 1999 Belmont School of Music graduate who wowed the ’American Idol’ judges during her audition in Memphis, advanced to the top 12 of the hit television series

Like I said earlier, Vince Gill is a big fan of Belmont and probably will be there.
There are quite a few country music insiders and/or singers who went to Belmont or Lipscomb.

As a reminder, here are the four occasions in which a no. 15 seed has defeated a no. 2:
1991: Richmond over Syracuse 1993: Santa Clara over Arizona 1997: Coppin St. over South Carolina 2001: Hampton over Iowa State
Note that NONE of these teams won their conference tournament prior to their NCAA upset (of course the Pac 10 conference had no conference tourney in 1993).
When Iowa State lost to Hampton, it was fresh off a first-game, quarterfinal loss to Baylor in the Big XII tourney, despite being the no. 1 seed. Seton Hall won the BET in 1991; South Carolina was the SEC regular season champion in 1997 but did not win the conference tourney.

Anybody have a sense of their standard defense? It seems like the teams that perform well against us have the ability to play a really tough zone, and shoot lights out from three. That's the only type of team that has beaten us in since January, and sadly that team will be playing in the Not Important Tournament. While I doubt Belmont will be able to match their season average of 38% from behind the arc, it certainly shows they can shoot the deep ball.
However, with two bigs (well kinda big at 6'10") accounting for 27% of their points (and neither via the Lee Scruggs method -- 6 threes attempted between them), I'm guessing they play a lot of man-D against their conference competition.
A team unaccustomed to playing zone that counts on big men for a large portion of their points -- sounds like as good a match up as you could ask for.

Camille www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/11/AR2007031101463.htmlcouple of quotes from Green: But that initial shout was soon dwarfed by a much louder one, which came in response to CBS analyst Seth Davis describing Georgetown as "one of the best two seeds I've ever seen" and saying "I think it's an easy bracket for them." "I was kind of confused, because there's a lot of great teams in our bracket, so I don't know how they got that thought that we'll have an easy road to get to wherever they think we'll get," junior forward Jeff Green said. "We have to come out ready to play on Thursday and not worry about whether CBS has nice things to say about whether it's going to be an easy bracket. We know teams are going to come after us, the way we've been playing." ....................... Green, for one, has already moved on. He has given his commemorative T-shirt and hat -- even his Big East championship watch -- to his father, Jeff Green Sr. "I don't wear all that," said Green, who was named both the conference regular season and tournament most outstanding player. "That's the past now. That stuff is over with, and we have to move on." But there is one thing he's planning to keep for himself: the Big East championship ring. "He's not getting that," Green said. "That's something I worked hard for. He can have all the other stuff. I'll probably get a chain and put it around my neck. I don't like wearing jewelry much, but that I'll wear."

Mb,
Belmont is in the Atlantic Sun Conference, the same league that Stetson plays in (chief kickingstallionsims fame)
They have a good point guard in Justin Hare. He can really shoot it. They have a stable full of shooters, they shoot it in transition, and they run a 4 out 1 in set around 6-10 behemoth Boomer Herndon.
Now Herndon is probably the best big in the A-sun, but he's probably no match for Roy. They are a team of great shooters, but they aren't that athletic. They run a lot of man, but I'd expect to see a lot of zone as well.
Bottom line: If we get out to their shooters, and run them off the three-point line, the game is over because they don't have anywhere near our type of athletes. But if they get open looks they will knock them down, and if they do, it could be a tough afternoon for us. We just need to play our game and for the love of pete.........
DONT OVERLOOK ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!
