We're due for a game against Nova without foul trouble for Roy or Jeff. If that happens, we'll win going away.

Biggest issue is Jeff Green foul trouble. If he picks up 2 early it will be a long and tight day.
He needs to be really smart and not get overaggressive on defense.

its all about the younnng jeeeeeeezy tomorrow. mark it down. depaul's big ballhandlers penetrated AT WILL against Nova...DaJuan should get an oppty to do the same as long as he keeps the O-ffensive fouls in check. plus he's got a mean streak and is probably Editeded he hasn't been shooting well.
but it comes down to getting big roy the rock early on for a couple message baskets...he wont have nardi trying to teabag him at least.

The two keys to winning, in my mind are:
1. Get the ball to Roy. 2. Put Sapp on Reynolds from the tip.
Not as worried about this game as our game at Wachovia (though still worried). We are the better team in this matchup and I think we have a few more things figured out than we did at tip time in Philly last month.

The key will be whether for the first time in 3 meetings we can get Roy Hibbert involved. Although Jeff Green hit the game-winner in Philly, you can really argue that Jessie Sapp was the key to that victory because he stepped up where Roy did not. We have a winner- no doubt that is the key to the game.

I don't know, it seems to me its hard to argue that our offense was its very best against West Virginia, and hasn't met that standard since, starting with Nova.

So long has Scottie Reynolds has a pulse, 'Nova has a chance.
That being said, it is now time to stop messing around and feed Roy.
DePaul dominated in the paint today and there's NO reason we shouldn't do the same.
Casually.

I will point out the obvious: DePaul dominated the paint and LOST. We need to make sure we play great perimeter defense and establish either the perimeter game or, more likely, the ravenous beast early. If we can dominate the boards and play solid d, we will win this game.

Clarification: I think we have figured out a few things re: matching up with 'Nova. I agree our offense was better in late January/early February.

I can't emphasize enough that the seeding means nothing in this game. Take away Sapp's miracle 3 at halftime or JG's huge jumper in the final seconds and we're 0-2 against the team we're playing tomorrow. In Vegas, I don't think we should be more than a 2 points favorite, if that. In some ways, we might be playing the Big East championship right here in round 2. Can you tell I'm a nervous wreck about this one? I think Vegas will have us as a 5 or 6 pt favorite, and I think we'll cover. It depends a lot on getting both Roy and our outside shooters untracked, but I think we will, and it will be a game that might be a tough one, but not necessarily a barn-burner by the end.

I think our team will show a bimodal distribution vis a vis the offensive output. We already had one peak, and I think tomorrow (or maybe in the UConn game) we start rising toward the second peak.
Agreed that we have to get Roy involved. In the early going if he just comes out to meet the guards to handle the ball, I think that is important. High-low posts will be important to - have Jeff get him the ball in those cases. Okay, easier said than done, but we just have to win this game.

Reynolds is a scorer, but he's also a chucker. Get after the boards, take quality shots, and move on to the semis.

GO HOYAS!

If we want the Hoyas to be playing past the first week of the NCAA, they should be able to figure out how to beat teams like 'Nova and 'Cuse. Bring 'em on, can't be afraid of anyone now.
Why, why does every contact I have at work want to schedule meetings for early afternoon tomorrow? Can't anyone think of another time to receive my professional expertise?

Third time around both coaches probably have each other figured out. Luckily they haven't seen much of Roy in the first two games, so if we can establish him early then he could have a big day (especially if Nardi is out and not abusing him inside). Most importantly, we have Jeff ready to take the big shot when we need it.
