I didn't realize how dominating on both ends of the floor we were in that first half.
We missed 4 shots in the half, shooting 78.9%. We also held them to 28.6% shooting, and they didn't hit double digits until 6:35 was left in the half.
That is how you start (and basically finish) a basketball game.

Maybe it's overstating it a bit, but I think JR has the best handle on the team. He's very confident on the dribble and can blow by defenders at least as well as Sapp. Of course his shooting is awful, and he does not always makes good decisions passing, but with his dribbling, good defense, and solid rebounding, he definitely brings value to the floor.
I am also impressed with Macklin's ball distribution. There were one or two times where he was stuck in a corner and found a cutter for a layup/dunk. He really seems to understand what he needs to do with the ball when he's out there, which is impressive for a freshman who has not gotten a lot of minutes.

Really? It looks to me like it's only the Alabama Rainmaker. There are definitely not six Hoya legs in that picture. Sapp & Rainmaker are there, maybe PEjr is off to the side. Probably so... maybe it is just me but it looked like JW saw the bump by PE Jr. and tried to pull him away to make sure nothing happened. At least it looked like that on TV. Wouldn't be surprising from such a good floor leader.

Just about everything has been said....my two cents:
1. Hibbs and Green are the best C/PF combo in the nation - bar none. I don't really care what Lunardi, Gottlieb, Vitale, et al have to say about it. No one rivals these guys.
2. Sapp, Summers and Rivers, playing within III's offense, are the best three-guard combo in the BE. I've seen Marquette, ND, 'Nova and Pitt...
3. Remember the recent thread about Marquette and the recipe for a potential rivalry due to our institutions similarities? We have almost nothing in common with WVU and yet I believe we have the beginnings of a decent rivalry here.
3. Sapp, Summers, Rivers and Macklin...Wright and Freeman...III can recruit as well as any coach in the country.
4. Let's beat 'Nova...20-5 (10-2) = Top 10.

I was thinking the same thing. Watching him over the last 10 games or so, he's really shown improvement in the handle/confidence/drive part of his game, and he's out quickest guard. I used to cringe when he'd try to bring the ball upcourt; now I look forward to it. His passing and shooting will need to improve if he wants to remain a viable part of the rotation when Austin and Chris arrive, tho'. I loved that one no-look pass he had during garbage time ... can't remember who it was to, but it got some "oohs" from the crowd.

Rivers really does need to work on his shooting: 33.3% FG (12-36), 40% FT (2-5) and .091% 3PT (1-11) It's not a huge sample, but I think that it's small by design.

Noticed that too! We were like "Roy learned to jump!" I think that had a large impact in our rebounding game; even if Roy doesn't come down with it, if he goes up he forces opposing players to alter their strategy, opening up the chance for Jeff or our Rebounding Machines (i.e. Wallace and Sapp) to grab it.

Another thing that was nice about the blowout, was aside from Sapp, who's both a starter and a "game's over but it's not quite garbage time" guard, only Jeff had more than 30 minutes, and he only logged 31. The blowout allowed our starters to rest, rather than have to drain the tank. Fatigue played a factor in our last loss to Nova--that won't be a problem on Saturday.

First, I hereby decree JWall's official nickname to be 'Bama Rain. Says it all, says it fast, says it sharp. 'Bama Rain. And does he always come up with a big 3-pointer every game at just the right time or what? Not to mention the absolutely sick among-the-trees move down the lane. Love the guy.
Rivers is playing much, much better than he was earlier in the season. Like others have said, I don't have confidence in him to shoot, but he is fast with a great handle, and he's got hops too. I used to cringe when he got in the game. No more.
Are there always that many WVU fans in the house? It was annoying.

It's not annoying when we win (at least to me) -- I'm happy to accept their financial contribution to Georgetown Athletics.

I'm still lobbying for JW's nickname to be "Mr. President."
(Isn't it great that we are debating our players good nicknames? I never thought this time would return back in '02/'03.)

Congrats on another big win. I didn't get to watch any of the game since we were stuck with Louiville-Pitt on one channel and Oklahoma-Texas on the other. No, not Oklahoma St. - Texas, that game followed the Louisville game. Oklahoma-Texas was on the deuce at 7pm. Why they would show that women's game instead of your matchup featuring two ranked teams is beyond me. From watching the ticker though, it looked liek you jumped on them early and kept the pressure on until the outcome was decided. In all seriousness, if you keep winning, a 2 seed is well within your reach and a 1 is still not entirely out of the question. And if you play all of your cards right and achieve all of your goals you just might get another chance at a brush with greatness ... just like last year.

Personally I've been calling him Dubya for three years. Why others are so resistant is beyond me...I mean he is our Commander in Chief. Respect the office!

It seems to me that a rivalry is developing as well. Yes, WVU always does bring a few thousand fans to the Verizon Center. Last year this board whined for days after WVU's win at Gtown, when our fans took over the arena to the point that late in the game Beilein took the starters out one by one for standing ovations. DELETED for violations of board rules 3 and 12Criminal? Wow...you're serious? I think we have different ideas about criminal. Giving a fellow competitor a chest bump after he tackled your PG out of bounds for no reason is hardly criminal. Excessive? Yes. Criminal? Not even close. There is some irony about everyone reacting to the PEJR and decrying its "criminal" or "violent" nature. There was a crime on Monday, it just didn't happen on the court. A 14 year old boy was pistol-whipped right in front of the Verizon Center by a gang of five of his peers a few hours before tipoff. They beat the living crap out of him in broad daylight right across the street from Clydes. We watched the entire thing happen in horror from the downstairs bar. Police came out guns drawn, the crowd scattered, the thugs escaped. So to recap: five teenages pulled guns outside Clydes and beat another boy close to death at about 5 o'clock in the afternoon. And we are concerning ourselves with a chest bump? Grow up WVU. Grow up.

I don't think we've seen this level of reaction on our own boards by opposing fans after a loss in a while, much less after the kind of belting that they received from Beilein right on down the line.
I don't quite know why it seems like WVU fans think they're entitled to something. What do you want here? Ewing got the technical and Beilein skated. Regardless of whether you agree with the merits of those calls, GU was punished more by the referees for these incidents.
