Seriously -- I have nightmares about being in MCI Center last year with that "Let's Goooooo Mountaineers" chant taking over the arena at the end of the game. We need to make sure to drown out their devil chants tonight. Then again, at least we don't have to go back to Morgantown. Bummer for them. I have nightmares about trying to find the game televised at a bar, only to be forced by whatever nitwit was running ESPN full court to have to watch the end of the Notre Dame-DePaul women's game, which was punctuated by endless efforts to foul despite one team being down 15 or more points. I can't believe we're playing on a Monday without it being on Big Monday. Weird schedule. Nightmares? I actually went out and bought ND and DePaul sweathshirts so I could BURN them as a sacrifice to rid television of the drivel that is Women's basketball. I honestly can say that I'd rather wash my car and watch the beads of water air dry then any women's basketball game. Flashback to the nightmare for anyone who tried to watch via Sports Bar: 1. One team up 40/50 points--constantly fouls and calls timeouts 2. Game was on ESPN 2 and still was forced on us 3. Missed layups, missed jumpers, dribbling off their shoes 4. Coach takes timeout down 40 with 2 minutes left 5. I attempt to rip the tv out of the wall 6. I attempt to throw a platter full of food at the television 7. I invent curse words that are not even words- 8. I use napkin as a blindfold to avoid the pain/misery of this crap 9. I decide to exit Sports bar and re-enter, hoping it was a bad dream 10. Entire way home after we lose, I decide to place the blame on Women's basketball and in an effort to share my misery, decide that anyone who likes this "sport" needs to de-fect to the planet of Auriemma where they are forced to watch nothing but Women's basketball and change their name to Taurasi Nation. I will never shake this nightmare and the sound of anything that starts with "Wom......." and end's in "all" is enough to make me Hulk out--and usually destroy at least one item in my home from disturbing nightmare I and so many other fans had to endure. It is my personal hell and don't wish this upon anyone.

What I'd like to know is, if two dozen women gather in a gynmasium to play basketball, but no one is there to watch, is it really a sport?

Can we not disparage college women's basketball? Georgetown has a team, and I'm from the "support your school in all endeavors" approach. They're fellow Hoyas - give them some respect. Save your acrimony for the WNBA.

Hopefully WVU will have forgotten that they are a hideous road team and come into the phone booth looking for another quick lead, because we have the dicipline to shut them down

Whatever word we use to describe this run is really only as useful as what it's describing. Hot, good, very good, great, solid ... the meaning of the words is really all the same in the context of the success of the last 8 games, the numbers we're putting together, and the fortunes of the rest of college hoops outside of the Top7, the Pac-10 generally, and a couple solid mid-majors. WVU is what, 2-3 on the road? As the day goes on I feel better and better about our chances tonight. As someone who attended almost every women's home game in college let me just say that there are few things as fun as taunting Geno and being told by UConn TV to be quiet because otherwise they won't be able to broadcast the game in CT. That and the road sodas "All pain is manageable."

There's a chance for both teams to suffer a let-down. However, I like our chances tonight playing at home, with our big men playing hot lately. It's also only a matter of time before Wallace heats up again and drops 15 on 5-7 from downtown on someone, I'm guessing it happens tonight. I think we'll see a lot of Rivers and Ewing tonight for defense, which is fine as long as our juniors are scoring.

And I will see you and raise you on the second--Roy has been logging a lot of minutes, and I think Vernon will make a contribution tonight.

I feel very confident. And I will right up until WVU leads 2-0, at which point I'll be certain we're going to lose.
Such are the pains of growing up as a Hoyas fan from 1997-2001

Check out the comments from the SoCal peanut gallery:

Awesome! the Virginia cheerleaders are barefoot. I guess as soon as they are done the run right back to the kitchen.

i'm fairly nervous about this game for superstitious reasons. this year and last year we had 7 game win streaks but lost the 8th. And you know who broke both of those streaks? West Virginia. The second time they did it was in DC... Exactly one year ago Monday. We need an exorcist. Luckily for us, we are Georgetown.

Agreed. He probably hides Kevin Pittsnogle in that front-butt to come out and torture Roy when necessary. Also, does anyone else find it funny that the Brokeback Mountaineers enjoy singing/dancing YMCA en masse? The evidence is, um, "mounting" up in this decreasingly ambiguous case.
