ESPN always seems to underestimate, so Ill say 18 there... 15 in the AP poll

I am not exactly sure why, but on Sunday morning SportsCenter, our game was not among the first 15 or so college games they covered. So much for the good press thing. Not sure how the battle for second place among two ranked teams got buried so much, but it did.

I saw our game covered in the first 15 minutes of the 9 a.m. SportsCenter this morning.

I don't know how that is possible. I was watching I think the 8 am Sportscenter and they did about 10-15 college games and then NBA and NASCAR and then got to Gtown around 30-40 minutes in after serval commercial breaks. Was it after the Pitt-PC game for you too? If so, I really don't think that was 15 minutes in. At any rate, I would have expected to see #22 beating #11 during a 100th anniversary celebration being among the first 5 games covered.

Lots of press coming off this win and will be some good TV coverage (been on ESPN.com front page side column all afternoon). Just watched the post-game of the Kansas game on ABC. They had highlights of WVU, Texas, OSU (no "the," which remains NOT a phrase), UNC...none of which featured two currently ranked teams. NO GEORGETOWN HIGHLIGHTS! It seems that at least some of the press has yet to wake up to the not-so-sleeping giant. On another completely unrelated note...how awful is the rest of the Texas team for them to be as bad as they are with Durant? Just wondering. Don't underestimate the rest of Texas' players. Of the 7 players who get double figure minutes, 5 are freshmen and 2 are sophomores. D.J. Augustin is an outstanding point. Texas is just young. Their young players will only improve. Texas is 17-7, 7-3, currently tied for third in the Big 12. They will be a tough out in the tourney. Of course, they won't have Durant next year...

We are up to #9 in the Pomeroy ratings. If you look at the numbers behind the rankings, we're actually as close to #2 Florida as we are to #12 Indiana. Seems about right.

AP: 17 Coaches: 19
I doubt we jump Marquette. Maybe next week; it ususally takes a week for the voters to hone in on this kind of game's impact. Now let's beat WVU.

A lot of this depends on whether an individual voter is ranking who has had the best season to this point versus who are the best teams right now. I don't think there are any rules governing how the voters look at it, so they can choose to reward MU by a very narrow margin, for example, rather than placing us ahead of them.
