On this day, one hundred years ago, a fine American institution was born. Led by head coach Maurice Joyce and leading scorer Richard Downey's six points, the basketball team from Georgetown University defeated the squad from the University of Virginia, 22-11, in their first game ever.
One century in the books, another to come...

Check out The Attorney General, rockin' the Happy Birthday thread!
I certainly won't be around for the 200th Anniversary Celebration, so I'm planning on making this a good one. Let's rock it out this weekend and beyond...

I probably won't make 125, so I'm enjoying this one. Lets make sure we don't cast a shadow on the evening by losing tomorrow. All us "older gentlemen" need to be on our feet at the game tomorrow.

Amen Fellas Amen i especially agree with FTB. You don't think you're going to see the 125th anniversary? You haven't even graduated from college yet! I would have pegged Sketch as the HB member that subscribed to the theory that only the good die young.

Happy 100th Birthday Hoya Hoops!
Let's get a good win against MU on Saturday. If ever there was a day to show your fandom (read: stand and cheer the whole game) tomorrow's the day. I have a good feeling ....

Standing the whole game should be mandatory for student & YA sections. Can we get this porkbarreled into the season ticket renewal forms?

Yeah but that means you get less points if/when I kick the bucket, so that's just bad strategy. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Marquette's only the second ranked team (at the time) to visit Verizon Center this season (and the other one was Notre Dame, and that game was competitive for like 15 seconds cause ND is grossly overrated but that's another story). Should also be the largest attendance by at least a factor of 5-6K right? And dare I ask this question: which gets you more up for a game/creates better atmosphere: once-in-a-century 100th Anniversary celebration w/ former players in the sold out house against Top 15 opponent? Or sold-out game vs. undefeated #1 Duke? Different kind of atmosphere...but do you have to think about that answer?

that's why i also have rudzinski to balance it out. I figured i'd go with one sure pick and one risky pick to balance eachother out. You did know you can have multiple horses in this race right.

The answer is yes, I do have to think about it.

Those that choose to pull this thread in a direction other than for which it was intended can fully expect consequences the likes of which we - as honest, hardworking American Citizens - cannot begin to comprehend.
To find one's name on The List is to begin a life more difficult than one can imagine.
Happy birthday, Georgetown basketball.

The AG is my new favorite poster. And I am not just saying that b/c he taps my phone and knows where I live . . .
I am more psyched for tomorrow's game than I was for Duke. No question.

I'm pretty excited, but let's not go crazy. I was only pretty sure we'd beat Duke, so it had the added bonus of some drama. I KNOW we're beating Marquette.
