Check them out against Syracuse tomorrow night... Scott runs a different variant than JT3, as he runs the offense strictly, whereas JT3 has added quite a few wrinkles.

Is the game on National TV? I thought I didn't see anything on the ESPN networks until Nov. 15 (Wake Forest).

With a little over 6 min left in the 2nd half, SU is 44 and Princeton 41. Drat! Nobody is picking up any of these early Coaches v. Cancer games for TV. I'd love to be seeing this instead of following game tracker .......

56-45 final. No disgrace there. Syracuse pulled away in the last 5 minutes.

I wouldn't be surprised if we played Syracuse in much the same way as Princeton did. One thing that the Princeton offense ensures is that you can establish the tempo and play a controlled game.

The Princeton system has always been capable of controlling tempo. But that doesn't mean the Hoyas will try to slow the game down. The slow downed style is used by the Tigers mostly against high D1 programs because of a talent disparity. While the Hoyas don't have the talent of the Orange they still have enough to play a quicker game and still give themselves a chance to win if they play precisely.

I listened to the game. Princeton jumped out to a 14-5 lead against Syracuse man-to-man. Orange went to 2-3 zone extended to deny threes and counting on size to contest shots inside. Two key Princeton starters had to sit with 2 fouls so the Tigers had to play three freshmen for the last six minutes of the 1st half. Half ended with Syracuse up 28-22. Lead stretched to 34-24 then Princeton figured out the zone, went on 13-3 run to tie at 37 and trade 3's to tie at 40. Then Princeton had more foul trouble and Syracuse hit a couple of shots and then free throws. Follow dunk by Warrick on a missed free throw clinched the game with about 2 minutes left. Princeton pushed McNamara out and he shot anyway from 25, 26, 28 feet. He hit his first and his last but missed a bunch in between. Georgetown coaches probably can get good use from this tape.

Listening to the game, it sounded like it basically broke down as -- Luke Owings in game -- Princeton ahead or tied; Owings sitting for foul trouble (first half) and fouling out (end of second half), Syracuse outscores the Tigers. I think it was something like a 2 or 3 point game when Owings fouled out, and then when Venable fouled out almost immediately afterwards, Princeton was done. At this early point in the season, Princeton doesn't have much depth, but as the freshmen get experience, I think they'll become even tougher. Princeton's starters were every bit equal to Syracuse's last night, and maybe even slightly better.
