Sagarin is a much better ranking than the polls, but it is utterly useless at this point. It is a system based on performance-data, and there is none.
Does he just use last year's or adjust for his opinion? I'm curious. It looks like some derivation of last year -- see how high St. Joe's is?
Usually it goes unbiased (he drops his weights) about the eighth game for each team.

I think that starting out, he uses last year's end-of-season data (which unlike RPI, accounts for postseason play), and might make some adjustment for loss of scoring/rebounding via graduation or the draft.
