A friend of mine who is attending the Kingwood Classic AAU Tournament said he saw JT III tracking Calvin Miles--a 6'8 Forward from Texas. He's been compared to Josh Smith as an Athlete and posted up 34 pts in the game my buddy saw JT III there. He's really seeing his stock rise this early part of the AAU season and is a very versatile inside/outside player. Think of Richard Jefferson type player which should tell you hot JT III envisions his version of Hoyas----Running like Nets and Kings more than Princeton.
Just thought I'd pass it along. Miles likes the Big East too so it could be a player to keep an eye on.
Also was told Abdul Herrera a kid who lists GU as his "DREAM SCHOOL" is tearing it up again and is a "TRUE CENTER" who likes to play down low and rebound, knock people around. Had one game the guys at Insiders said was "unstoppable" and he goes 6'11 250.
More updates later tonight from the Kingwood Classic.

It sounds like JT3 is recruiting in the right gym. Thanks for the update. Interesting take with this Calvin Miles guy. JT3 has always played with a versatile three at Princeton instead of a shooter who stays foul-line extended like the old Princeton offense. I think Bowman and Green will fit in well in this type of role for the three. The only thing we'll need for our class of 2005 is a shooter, and, if we are going to aim to play like the Kings, it would be great to have a KC Rivers. Even though Garcia is more apt to come to play at GU, it sounds like Rivers would be an even better fit because of his ability to shoot out the lights.

It says on Insiders that Calvin Miles is an "excellent student." Looks like JTIII is keeping up the the academic integrity thing.

Good info, RDF. But if he is indeed top ten quality wouldn't he be more likely to go straight to the NBA?

Good info, RDF. But if he is indeed top ten quality wouldn't he be more likely to go straight to the NBA? This rising SR class isn't as talented and has the unfortune of being sandwiched with this year's kids and class of '06 which is said to be a big time group. Miles has talent of a top 10 player in the class but politics are likely to prevent that--better for us as far as I'm concerned! MCI, you ever gone answer my email? ;D

I posted a link yesterday on Herrera, sounds like a beast. I too would like Rivers, but we're on a couple of points for '05 as well. Andre McGee and Josh Thorton. Thorton is top 30, McGee is top 15. Thorton is closer (DE) than McGee (CA). McGee is a scoring point, Thorton more of the floor general type.
