I think we all owe the mods a big thank you for their management of this message board, whose traffic has been high over the last few weeks.
Due to DFW's vision and commitment to fandom on the Internet, we now have a place where fans can interact in almost limitless fashion. The previous board did not allow us to view extremely old posts, and the cycling of posts off the board made it difficult for many to stay as engaged and up to date.
This new setup is absolutely great, and I think the Hoya fan community is better off for it. The private message feature is a great addition to the board site, and it has allowed many people to organize in an off-the-record format.
Thank you to those who make it happen and for managing it with class and care in spite of the many challenges that go along with it. Thank you and Hoya Saxa!

Where have the mods been lately? They've been mysteriously silent on the JTIII hiring, especially since DFW's bizarre, my-opinion-is-exceptionally-important post yesterday.
Not that I don't appreciate what they do, just curious what the story is behind the mysterious behavior. Just because DFW isn't enthusiastic shouldn't mean WilsonBlvdHoya and DanMcQ feel the same way.

I think one of the mods is on vacation. I don't mind a more hands off sort of board, and I think they can now be more hands off because GU made a decision (firing Esherick) that is pretty popular on here so far as I've been able to tell, so many of the criticisms, mine included, have been tamed.

As a new member of the boards, I want to thank the people who make it possible. Not only is it great to see how people react to things that are going on at GU, it makes me more enthusiastic to know that there are so many other people out there that feel so much for the school and the program.

Thanks for the support. I echo 2getherforeve's sentiments and wholeheartedly support/welcome JT III and any efforts to support the men's bball program (or any other intercollegiate athletic programs) at GU!
One of the other moderators is on vacation. DFW will have more commentary on Monday. As SaxaCD acutely observed, it's a process, not outcomes, concern on his part. Let's leave it at that and have DFW speak for himself on Monday!
Welcome aboard JT III! Remember "the proud old Princeton Tiger is never at a loss but the yell of all the yells, the yell that saves the day is the Hoya, Hoya Saxa of the dear old Blue and Grey!"

I was in Orlando for 10 days with my family, concentrating on Mickey, Minnie, and my exceptionally below average golf game. I've been so out of the loop that my notice of the JTIII hire was via that bastion of the expose, USA Today, and what little appeared on ESPN. I'm not even done reading all the posts and article links about it. I like the fact that JTIII is re-doing the staff, including athletic department staff, by his own hand. The SID office could use a major upgrade IMO. I like what I've heard about his probable assistant, Burke, from Princeton. I think the hire is a bold one that could either be wildly successful..... or fail. Only time will tell. I do not believe, from what I've heard, that this was a JTII-directed hire. I doubt many of us will ever know about the process and who was interviewed. Frankly, if it works out, I don't really care. Off to search for DFW's famous post or, barring that, eagerly awaiting his Monday treatise on the subject. For Jersey and others who thanked us - thank DFW for the site upgrade. I have always at least tried to keep the opinion side of speech free here and have only tried to keep it from getting personal or too vindictive.
