This may be a stupid question because im not sure if anyone knows Green personally, but are there concerns about him qualifying?? This guy sounds like a great recruit and I would have to see him not make it a Gtown.

My understanding is that he hasn't qualified yet, and sat for the SAT again in March, so we're all anxiously awaiting the results.

If Green does not qualify, does anyone know what the plans are then? Does he enroll and sit out a year or go to a prep school or go to a community college? Is it still possible we will lose him if he does not qualify?

Possible? Sure. If he doesn't qualify, he's pretty much free. He can attend GU as a partial qualifier and sit out a year. Or he can go the prep or juco route (the former would be much more likely than the latter). If he went prep, other schools would definitely attempt to recruit him, particularly the terps, who I think regret not offering him this season. Cuse would probably get involved too. I'd sleep much easier if he's qualified, which he still has one or two more chances to do. I don't want to reprint the quotes, since they're from HoyaReport, but he's saying all the right stuff, and sounds genuinely committed to Georgetown.
This kid is a great, great find, and I really hope he suits up next year. He'd be a starter and a contributer from day one. Don't let the rankings fool you - most area people think he's better than Maryland signee James Gist, who's ranked in the 50s by most people.

Wow, I love those quotes from Jeff. He really seems different from all those people who are thinking of jumping straight to the NBA, who think too much of their game. Jeff was taking all the praise in stride. Good luck in all your testing Jeff! We're happy to have you!

Jeff was taking all the praise in stride. Good luck in all your testing Jeff! We're happy to have you! I like Jeff a lot as a person from what I have heard. His comments indicate to me that he has a sense for what is right and what is wrong and feels that attending GU is the right thing to do (given our coaching change and his ability to have more leverage if he choosed to renege on his commitment). What I also like is that is father, who has been contacted frequently by moderators on another site, is a good guy who also seems to have this moral clarity and likes GU because of its ability to foster complete people unlike some other programs where the focus is more heavily placed on basketball, at the expense of academics. Undoubtedly, this clarity and interest comes through in what Jeff says and how he conducts himself. I don't care that Green has not qualified academically in the sense of making a judgment about GU's recruitment of him. Recruiting him was and is the right thing to do, and, should everything work out, I think he'll do very well on the Hilltop, much like others who have been in his situation or close to it. These are precisely the types of recruits that we need to find (local. good people, talented).

In the story nobody read because it was out of date a few minutes after it hit the ink: On his preparation for Georgetown, Green said he’s been focusing on improving his SAT score, which he must do in order to qualify for competition. He said he will take the SATs May 1. thehoya.com/sports/042004/sports5.cfm

If Green's sitting in May, it's safe to assume he didn't get a qualifying score this past March, right? Or are results not out yet?

I find it encouraging that Hibbert has been staying in touch with Causey and Bowman. As tough as this process has been on the the Gtown fans this process must have been brutal on the players and recruits. The players may or may not have had a good relationship with the head coach but I'm willing to bet that there was a good connection between the players and at least some of the assistant coaches...any word yet on what the fate of the assistant coaches will be? If we're going to clean house we might as well do it completely and let everyone go from the managers on up.

I would guess we'd be hearing some time in the next week or two about assistant coaches. I find it hard to imagine that the selections would be made in a three-day period, but I also think JTIII will want to have some help on the recruiting trail pretty quickly.
