Another interesting thing that wilbon said today is that "Noah underestimates his own talent level" -thoughts? I find it hard to believe that this is true. Noah doesn't really strike me as the humble type. But actually, I want to take issue with another thing Wilbon and many others have been saying, that Noah won't leave because he "loves college too much." I remember in April 2003, so many sportswriters were saying the exact same thing about Carmelo Anthony. Or at least, when he said that he loved college, they all bought it. (are you listening, Jay Mariotti?) Well, of COURSE Carmelo loved college...he hadn't been to class since November 2002. Same thing goes for Matt Leinert. It's pretty easy to love college when the only thing you have to do outside of play football is some ballroom dancing (apologies to YB, I do not mean to degrade the difficulty or strenuousness of ballroom dancing; it's just not really all that challenging of a course load, I think you will agree). I don't know if Noah is like those guys. For all I know he is a model student. I just laugh when I hear everyone saying things like, "Oh, he likes where he is too much, he'll never leave," because more often than not in the past that's been complete B.S. One thing Wilbon did say is that Noah is a competitor and always wants to play against the best competition. That I do buy. Like him or not (and I fall squarely on the "not" side), the kid is definitely one hell of a competitor. More so than any other cross-dresser I've ever seen anyway.

I beg to differ. Venus and Serena Williams are VERY competitive!
I think that Wilbon's comment regarding Noah had something to do with a comment that Noah made about not wanting to sit once he gets to the league. This led to Wilbon's comment. Honestly, it baffles me why everyone is enamored with this guy. Maybe they see his competitiveness as a sign that he is willing to work to improve and not have his 1st priority be $$$ unlike 93% of the kids who go into the NBA these days?

Bummer. Aldridge is good, but he could use another year. Get bigger, stop fading away, etc. Yeah, I agree, Jimmy. Of course Barnes isn't the best developer of talent in the world, but still think Aldridge could dominate college ball Okafor-style if he stayed another couple years.

people were saying the same things about chris bosh, who i compare Aldridge to, and he developped quite quickly. I still think Texas is the most talented team in the country next year even without Aldridge coming back. Now let's see. Even without Aldridge, you think Texas is the most talented team in the Country. Hmmm, if Noah, Horford and Brewer don't change their mind, some might argue. Look also at UNC and you guys for that matter.

Texas has Rick Barnes coaching them. They are going to need a transcendent talent to win anything, much like Vince Young and Mack Brown.

As much as I hate to say so, I have to agree with hifigator the invader on this one. It's a little difficult to say that the defending national champion, with everyone significant back, doesn't have the best returning talent.

talent wise i still think Texas is more talented. Call me crazy but I think UF just happen to get hot at the right time but talent wise, while they are definetely a top 10 team talent wise, teams like UNC and Texas will have more talent next year.

Ya gotta agree with hifigator and a few others on this. Texas will be good no doubt. But you can't put them ahead of teams like florida (if they all come back), UNC, and Kansas who had strong young teams and are basically returning everyone. In losing aldridge, Texas is losing the centerpiece and leader of the team, which is bound to affect them. I think that is one of the great things about georgetown next year. Granted it is tough to lose bowman, cook, and darrell who have been leaders of this team for four years, but it would be a mistake to call them the centerpieces. That term could only be applied to green and roy last year, so i don't think the effect of losing seniors will be so adverse.
