Doyel is starting to move from Hoya fan to Hoya stalker. It's getting creepy.

no offense, but GW will probably close the year with a top 10 ranking..a "7" seed will be hard to justify for a top 10 team in the COUNTRY...i do like our 3 seed though

Doyel may not have seen GW's quality win over Xavier earlier in the week. For those who missed it, that was GW "taking the next step." For fans of a high major school, it is not even the equivalent of beating a team like Rutgers in the RAC.

I think Doyel might be one of the new posters on this board. I also think I saw him on the 10:30am bus from the quad. Rumor is he's sleeping on someone's futon in Burlieth.

Gonzaga had to suffer with #7 seeds and worse for the first few years it made the tourney before it made a name for itself in terms of consistent excellence. And during those years I doubt Gonzaga had as bad a schedule as the Colonials. According to the RPI site, which has not been updated yet for Sunday's results, GW's strength of schedule is around 220. And this is with the so-called most difficult games already out of the way. No matter how great GW's record is that SOS and its showing in the game against NC State will likely prevent the Colonials from getting a seed higher than a five. Of course I would not want to be a 4 seed facing a five seed like GW.

Gonzaga once went into the tourney ranked #6... and got a 6 seed. It has happened before.

Here's GW's problem.
Right now, they've played ONE tournament bound team, and got beat by 21. It was away, but with Maryland folding, Xavier losing to St. Louis again, and St. Joe's not exactly tearing it up, how can you give that team a high seed, even over, say, a Kansas, which struggled early but is rolling now?

#3 is too high for us right now. If we drop WVU, then I would agree. He is really high on the big east with five teams 3's or better. He's got Illinois as a four and others had them as a one prior to the PSU loss. I think conference tourneys will play in pretty big. I can't wait to see the polls.

Doyel was AT the XU game. He wrote a couple of articles/blog entries singing our praises earlier this season plus he was on the GW bandwaggon last year.
Either he's dumping us because he thinks the bus is too crowded or he just figured out that our AD, assistant AD and coach are UConn folks.

I don't give a rat's rear end what GW does, as long as we win!
I can see getting in with a 3 seed if we continue playing well to the end of the season and into the BET. Lots of teams are struggling right now and we're hot, for now.
Our senior-laden team is really starting to play well together. We will miss these seniors like crazy next year.

Yeah, I am really proud of the seniors. At the start of the year, I was trying to temper my expectations for this year and look fwd. to next. Now, I really think the sky is the limit. It looks like we should make the NCAA tournament and might even make some noise there.
BTW, how funny are these GW posters? Who cares if we think GW is legit or NOT?

We are heating up at the right time...after the Duke game, posters were pointing to the similarities between this team and Nova from last year.
I was very skeptical at first, but this team has me believing. If we can keep the momentum we have built, we will be very dangerous in the BET. Beat St. Johns!

I was thinking about that- comparisons between us this year and WVU and VU of last year.
I think WVU will have a tougher time with us at MCI than earlier- we are playing a lot smarter and with more confidence. Plus, banjos are not alllowed into MCI. That gives us a crucial edge.

Yeah, I am worried about the St. Johns game, too. They good. I think we should beat them, but they have a tough, NYC b-ball style that makes them unpredictable.

SJU is a less talented but tough team that always plays us well. We should bring our A game for this, because they have not put it all together and I suspect they are better than their record indicates.

As far as the #3 seed question, I had a conversation with a friend this morning about how that seed is too high for us right now. But think about it, who is ahead of us really. The 1's will go to Duke, UConn, Memphis, and Texas. 2's WVU, Nova, Florida and Zaga, and then the No.3 seeds. Pitt, Florida, Illinois and I would put either us or Mich St. here. So it is plausible to consider us a 3 seed at this point, if not that than a top 4 seed.
