We're done with our OOC schedule now; here's hopefully an easier way of checking out who our past opponents are playing and how they are doing, as it does affect our RPI (although not to the extent as our own performance, of course).
12/30
Savannah St. at Yale Vanderbilt at Dayton Illinois vs. Tennessee-Martin JMU at Texas A&M Corpus Christi
Vandy would do us a lot of good if they can take that road game at Dayton.

JMU winning an away game couldn't hurt their RPI either.
How has Navy done thus far this year?

Navy is 5-5 on the season so far. Their losses, other than to us, are at Arkansas-LittleRock, at Penn, at Yale and home against Air Force. Their wins are at Howard, at Morgan St., at Brown, and at home against Washington College and Susquehanna University (I am guessing they are not D-I schools?) In other words, they haven't done too much. They do play Bucknell twice.....that is about the extent of the help they will give us.

Well, our RPI is now 88, so it looks like we benefitted from the 12/30 games. Not that our RPI means all that much right now, but its nice to have it below 100 heading into the BE sked. A lot of BE teams have really good RPIs right now, so our RPI should only get better game by game. Throw in Duke, and I think our RPI will not hinder us this year.

I think JMU, Vandy, Oregon, and UTEP all will have a significant influence on our RPI when all is said and done. If JMU can finish in the middle of the pack in the CAA, and the other three teams do some decent damage in their respect conferences, our OOC is going to be solid. Despite how they've been playing as of late, I believe there's still enough talent at Oregon to pull maybe a middle of the pack Pac-10 finish, and Vandy could be a real contender in the SEC (arguably maybe the third best team behind Florida and Kentucky).

I guess none of those games are really that surprising - according to Mid-majority we are still @ 88 in RPI and amazingly Providence is @ 77 - so the game on the 5th will be a big deal.

Lic - You mean to say Providence will be tough if none of its other starters quit this week.

Well, Providence has a home game tonight against Loyola MD, and with their shortened (and frosh-heavy) rotation, we should work them hard in the frontcourt, and bring out some full court press to tire them out a little on Thursday night.
In other news, UTEP plays tomorrow night at Syracuse ... Big East conference strength be damned, I'm rooting for the Miners to make that a more respectable road win (would have been nice if they could have knocked off Bobby Knight's boys, though).

Marquette is winning by 4 in the second half.
Providence is tied with Loyola, MD - maybe this beginning stretch of games won't be so bad.
