He is the worst in the biz by a wide margin in my opinion.

I think he's fine and don't mind him. He has excitement for the game which cannot be said for many of the others.

I liked him when I first encountered him a couple of years ago. The whole look and his earnestness. But I have seen and heard him on a few podcasts more recently, and while he knows a lot about the Big East, he has pushed too much to highlight the more annoying aspects of the brand he appears to be cultivating and presenting to the world. No longer a fan. And today topped it all off -- he tries to have a classic closing to big plays and game broadcasts that feels contrived -- like he's trying too hard. Just wanted to mute him and have Donny Marshall take over.

So what was worse, his making your ears bleed or our team’s performance making your eyes bleed?

The team’s play was so horrid that I didn’t notice Fanta.

Those are just such different roles. I like(d) him as a sort of mascot for the BE. But I agree that the PBP role doesn't really work.

Yeah, that's always been how I've felt about him over on the soccer side, where he was doing a bunch of Georgetown broadcasts for years. It's great to have an unapologetic Big East Hype Man, but one need a calmer and steadier mixer to go along with that, which is typically your PBP.

John is just doing a caricature of an announcer. Not everything is as romantic and important as his style wishes it to be.
He's fine, and probably in time some of the cloying will go away -- but he's definitely not on a fast track to a national job with his current skillset.

If Fanta can get on Network TV, Harry is ready now.

If Fanta can get on Network TV, Harry is ready now. I was just going to ask you how Harry was doing at Newhouse.

All good thanks.
He is coming home this weekend and I am hoping to get him down to Shaw on Sunday.

So what was worse, his making your ears bleed or our team’s performance making your eyes bleed? Good point. We deserve Fanta. In fact, until Cooley gets it together, Fanta should follow him around and do PBP on his day-to-day. That's how pixxed I am Coach Ed currently. I still can't believe that double-ended atrocity he subjected us to last Saturday. I mean Pat's teams and several of last season's performances were just plain pathetic. But we actually have some real players now. That sort of performance on both ends is now just outrageously unacceptable.

These guys are worse. A lot worse. Emmanuel Barberi is much better than Fanta. Emmanuel is 23 and was calling Yankee games on radio. Fanta is a clown and has no business being a play by play person on any network. Emmanuel was stuck with Cartwright tonight and did a lot of the heavy lifting to get him to talk. The kid has real future.
