This is not the game I expected. The Hoyas came in as 14-point road dogs. I didn't see them outrushing the Leopards in the first half.

Tuned in for the latest Lafayette drive and that was some ugly football but glad Georgetown got the interception. Then the long rush the new play for an easy touchdown.

How was Georgetown a massive underdog going into this game?

How was Georgetown a massive underdog going into this game? Going into the season, Lafayette was the runaway favorite to win the league (12 of 14 first place cores) and had 6 of the 13 first team All-PL on offense, including the Offensive Player of the Year.

Hoya Saxa, baby!
Hoyas were about 60th in FCS going into this game, and Lafayette around 25th. But the Hoyas just beat Columbia, who beat Lafayette the prior week. So not out of nowhere, but definitely an upset.

Another great performance. This game was no huge upset. We had the better team and our win vs Columbia (particularly considering the 2nd half and how dominant we were). The sacred heart game was a bit of an anomaly. We had a number of costly turnovers- interceptions and fumbles. The combination of those young qb and dispirited defense lead to that very misleading result. SHU is not a good team. We are on verge of taking control of PL. this weekend at Colgate - where we have never won - is a big test. I think we have the talent to be very competitive. Lafayette beat Fordham. Fordham barely lost to holy cross (who demolished Colgate ). One game at a time - but there is reason to be optimistic. If we stay healthy this could be a special team - that’s becoming quite evident

If the Hoyas are gonna get one in Hamilton, this would be the year. 7+ hour bus rides are not exactly conducive to playing your best, however.

Games at Lafayette and Bucknell have always been an outlier. Georgetown's record at other PL stadia since 2001: Lafayette: 6-5 (three straight) Bucknell: 5-7 ------------------- Holy Cross: 2-10 Fordham: 1-10 Lehigh: 1-10 Colgate: 0-9

An underfunded program does not play as well on the road and this is where Georgetown has been in the PL era. It doesn't make them any less worthy of your support.
I hope to see your comments through the rest of the season.

I hope to see your comments through the rest of the season. I follow the games here, on ESPN+ when I can, and I fully recognize the limits of our program. Your post could be read as proposing, after a wonderful win on the road against a significantly favored opponent, that it's not that big an accomplishment, we beat them on the road regularly - but we have no shot against Colgate, we never win there.

Was not intended as such. Georgetown got a good win in a place where they have generally overperformed in recent years. A win at Colgate would be big heading into a two game homestand.

Fair enough. And I grew up 7 miles from Colgate, would love to see the Hoyas win there.
