From the ticket office:
The Hoyas bench and visiting team bench will be switching sides starting next season. The Hoyas bench will now be located closest to the west baseline of the arena in front of Section 121. We realize many season ticket holders might enjoy being in close proximity to the Hoyas bench. The ticket office will be reaching out to season ticket holders in Sections 101-104 & 110 with an option to either: 1) Move to similar, best available seats in like sections if you would like to stay in close proximity the Hoyas bench; or 2) Remain in your current seat location.
Why? I view this as an assault on the storied Section 101. Booo!

Also the seat license fee is being rolled into cost of season tickets so not a contribution to Georgetown as I understand it.
Also a Section 101er but likely to move to be behind the Hoya bench.
"Starting with the 2024-25 season, your season ticket cost will no longer be split out separately into ticket cost and a required per seat donation. Moving forward, those costs will simply be combined so the entire cost is reflected as the price of your season tickets. Having any donations above the ticket cost be optional allows for maximum clarity moving forward."
"While there will no longer be a required donation associated with your tickets, your philanthropic support is vital to the long term success of Georgetown Men's Basketball. The Georgetown University Office of Advancement will be reaching out with additional information on supporting the men's basketball program."

The current required seat donation already doesn't qualify fully as a charitable donation, so it appears that ultimately the hope is that season ticket holders will choose to contribute some additional donation.

Yes, I knew that but it was my understanding it was still considered a donation to Georgetown for the Loyalty Society purposes, not IRS deductions, or was I mistaken? Regardless, I make annual contributions to the Pep Band anyway.

I would think that would be the preferred option for most, but I'm never happy with change accompanied by phrasing like "Move to similar, best available seats in like sections . . ." One does get attached to those fans in close proximity. It's part of the experience. But . . . no explanation. I'm wondering if the purpose is to get the Hoyas bench closer to the student section and band (?).

Closer to the students/band may make sense. When we moved from Cap Centre, I went from 3 rows behind the Hoyas's bench to 12 rows back. That's life!

We were the only team in the Big East that has the orientation we had before. We will now be like everyone else.

Man....I would be Editeded if I had to move from good seats surrounded by long time Hoya fans/friends and take "the best available seats" behind the new bench. Yes....no explanation for the move....well...just because. "There will no longer be a required donation associated with your tickets".... as "these costs will simply be combined....for maximum clarity". Clear enough! We'll be reaching out for more money separately.....

I'm not overly familiar with that area since it's sometimes occupied by "hostiles." Does it have an area that has to be carved out for Caps games? Sec. 101 does and it creates different seating patterns and a loss of some nice seats.

A different question: aside from Vanderbilt and its quirky bench seating, how many other schools sit their teams away from the camera?
The lack of attendance in the lower bowl should be more of a priority. Could/should Georgetown try an approach some teams do, loosely known as dynamic seating? In lieu of a season ticket in the same seats each game, it could sell at a discount a season or multi-game ticket that would issue seats through the app on the day of game, based entirely on demand. You might sit in Section 100, row 4 for St. Francis, for example, but in section 114, row 20 for Marquette.
Either way, this looks to be a very difficult year to sell tickets, and the value proposition of support is clearly not being received by younger alumni.

I was relocated in 101 (to slightly better seats, closer to midcourt) because the Caps left the hockey tunnel in place for certain games.
